Pro Rookies at the Quarter Pole

The story of the rookie leaders.....where is Jesse Laaksonen? Leading the way, American's stud D'man, Simon Bertilsson, with his fellow twin tower Alex Urbom way down the list. Lots of teams happy with the performance of their kids so far. A few others....not so much.

Medical Room Overflowing

The Seals and Gamblers are having a disastrous season injury wise. With Patrick O'Sullivan knocked out for 9 games on opening night, and Andrei Mikhnov done for 10 after the last game, the Seals organization has more games lost more games to injury than they have played as an organization. Mikhonov's injury puts them in the 45 man games lost territory. Without changes, look for the Seals to fire the fitness staff.

Quarter Report Tidbits

ST.LOUIS - Well a quarter of the season has passed and there have been quite some surprises.

  • The Blues currently sit first in the league playing more offensive than defensive as they did in the previous year.
  • They are  followed by the usual teams like the Leafs who have turned around their slow start, and the Bruins and Seals.
  • The Rangers are a huge surprise having turned their team around and sit first in the division.
  • The same can't be said about the Americans who stocked up with some mighty fine defensemen in the draft. Unfortunately they aren't quite there defensively just yet.
  •  The Sabres, stanley cup finalists last year are dead last. The rebuild was expected but to have only 2 wins after the quarter mark and a 12 game losing streak is unlike GM Edwin.
  • The Oilers have finally played up to expectations while the Blackhawks who started strong have fallen fast.
  • Other notable teams that have done better than expected are the Red Wings and Senators.
  • Disappointment would be the Whalers, Jets and even Canadiens.
Next tidbit report will be the halfway mark as that seems to be where some teams do a 180 and play opposite of how they did the first half. Perhaps the GM's will also be more lively with some trades. It has been quite quiet.

RANGERS Surprising all but their Head Coach and GM.

The New York Rangers fans have something to smile about recently. Their team is on a tear right now. With a 10-6-2 record in 18 games they see their team sitting first in the PATRICK division and tied for 2nd in the WALES CONFERENCE.

The New York Rangers are posting the BEST Power Play (@ 24.1 %) and Penalty Kill (@ 87.5%) in the league. I am not sure the Rangers have ever hold such a prestigious placing before.

Goaltender Justin Peters is a big reason for the team’s success. He has a 2.51 GAA (best in the league for all goalies) and a .912 Save % (Best in the league as well).

If this keeps up the Rangers could play spoilers for allot of teams this year. We could be seeing a new power unfolding in the WALES CONFERENCE.

All other GMs need to beware of the Rangers.

Special Sabres

When we mean special its not a complement. The sabres are so horrible the league is looking at the possibility if some players have possible brain injuries. GM MacDougall had nothing good to say about the sabres play this season - "PHL Cup!!!PHL Cup!!!..christ these guys can't win a game and your talking about the PHL Cup!!! I could bring in a bunch of chimp and put red light racicot in net and have more then 2 wins. Jesus my expansion sabres weren't even this bad and they were nothing but a bunch of hacks and hillbillies."

The sabres are rumored in possibly moving some of there players and looking at the future. If you have any interests let us know. thanks

Blues GM does not knew to stop!

That really hurts C.C. But I guess after you look in the mirror, you lose all sense of motor control. That blue pill you were talking about is my anger control medicine. Funny how it's blue!

You sure you can find them without bifocals and a bottle of the blue pills? LOL.
