Blackhawks Press Release

The Blackhawks welcomed Eric Staal to the team before tonights games. We are hoping that Staal is the much needed player the team needs to have to take over first place from the Maple Leafs. Going into tonights games the Hawks were sitting just 3 points behing the Leafs. The Blackhawks watched the leafs loose to the blues giving them a chance to make it a slight margin between the two teams. The blackhawks came out tonight and won both of there games that they played putting them 1 point behind the maple leafs with the hawks still having one game in hand. The blackhawks played the detroit red wings in there first game and came out beating them 7-5. GM Brent watched mike green put up 2 more points in this game and center nokelainen put up another couple points. In the second game the hawks played the seals beating them 10-9. A very high scoring tilt that seen the blackhawks have a little more offence in them. Eric Staal in his second game here scored a goal and got 3 assists to go with it all. This looks like the center that the hawks might have needed the whol year. Look for more high scoring games like tonights in the near future.

Flyers On A Roll

Are the Philadelphia Flyers back? Only time will tell. After several trades that yielded so-so results, GM Jazz Matthews pulled on more, acquiring G Sebastian Centomo from the New York Islanders. Centomo (9/9) may be the tender that Matthews was looking for, winning in his first two outing against the Ducks and the Rangers. The wins pushed the Flyers passed the Devils and back in to their rightful place atop the division. Matthews was happy enough with the teams play that another deal for a top 4 dman was put on hold. As for the Central Texas Stampede, now winless in 7, the bottom seems to rising fast. After hiring pro hockeys first female coach, the team seems more interested in what goes on in the dressing room between periods, than what is happening on the ice. It should be noted that bench boss Tannis Gaylene hasn't been seen behind (or anywhere else) her players since her hiring.

The Blackhawks finally have acquired that much needed top line center to finally solidify there play off run. With talks going on with boston for over a month now we finally came to a conclusion on the deal. The blackhawks dealt malkin/cbj 1st phl 10/tc phl 9 for Staal. That much needed 9pa/9pc center that the hawks have been looking for all season. watchout now the hawks have strenghtened there roster even more. watch for many more goals to be scored.

GM Brent and the fans of the blackhawks would like to introduce ryan mcdonagh to the roster and hope he has a good career here while it lasts. Before Ryan could get here the blackhawks played two games tonight against the lowly blues. In the first game the fans seen the blackhawks beat the blues 5-2. Fernandez looked sharp in net yet again only allowing 2 goals for his 3rd straight time in net. Wendell Clark managed to score himself a nice hat trick tonight. The 3rd line for the blackhawks has been playing phenomenol hockey as of late and we hope they continue to keep it up. Mike green picked up 2 assists in this game to continue to score points since being acquired. In the second game of the night against the blues the hawks won 11-5. In this game we seen another hawk manage to pick up a hat trick and that was Nokelainen. He hasnt scored must this season so far but in tonights 2 games he scored 4 goals. Wendell clark picked up another 2 goals int the 2nd game, putting him at 5 goals on the day. Cheechoo managed to score 2 goals and pick up 3 assists putting him at a 5 point night which is nice to see every once in awhile from him. Mike Green also scored 1 goal and picked up 3 assists in this game sitting him at 6 points on the night. The addition of Mike Green has been one of the best moves so far this season for GM Brent.

Can he salvage the season?

With yet another loss by the Blue Jackets, GM Colston has to deside if he wants to salvage this season with what little fight he has left. Should he continue to work his line-up, or have the not so forgoing HLS system draw up his lines?

Is it time for GM Colston to place his PHL team up for sale, or is time that he demonstrates the leadership that is required from every GM throughout the league? Sure his club has lost a few top notched players after last season's early playoff departure, but you must move on and not dwell in the past.

If I were a betting man, I would have to bet on GM Colston to pull off a major trade to improve his teams chance of making it to the post season. Albeit the Blue Jackets are trying to hold onto 4Th place in the Norris, GM Colston will not hold a fire sale.

Can he salvage this season or will his Jackets fall deep into the cellar of the Morris? Whatever happens, look for GM Colston's team to fight for points in every game. Selling his team will not be an option. "The only way I lose my team is by my death" said Colston.

The Oil Kings came out tonight hoping to get their new goalie his first win with this team. Which in the end they managed to do that. Without Ryan Johnson on the roster it really hasny slowed down the offensive team that i have built. Matt Belesky took over top line for him and in the 2 games he has played there he has 3 goals. We are very happy that maybe his rerate wont be so bad after all if he continues to play like this. After the games were complete GM Brent was back on the phone talking about a possible deal with the Sabres. The deal included young prospect dman on the blackhawks roster Keaton Ellerby and a 1tc phl 9. The blackhawks sent out that and in return received a young prospect dman and 1st rnd pick buf phl 10. The Blackhawks acquired another draft pick which is what they have been looking for all season and are managing to finally acquire a few. Look for more rumours coming out of hawkville in the near future maybe surrounding solid dman eric brewer.

Well I hope everyone had a Merry HOHO and got everything they wanted.
The Whalers would like to welcome Luke Schenn to replace Mr. Green and he already paid dividends with an assist and +1 rating in his first game, which was vs the Flamers. This game was also a shutout, whoop whoop. The only down point is that we played the Hawks in game 2 of a back-to-back and lost 5-2. Green got an assist, went +1 and got 2 PIM while Schenn went -3. This is okay since Luke told me before the game that he was nervous about playing his old teammates. We will chalk this up to a lack of maturity and experience.
All in all I am happy with everything and see a very bright future for our Whalers. Keep counting us out Dougie and you will get a rude awakening, I PROMISE !!!!!

After welcoming Mike Green to the roster there was confusion in net tonight. Even though the main starting goalie never got to start we still managed to a get a win with back up manny fernandez in net. In the 2 games that fernandez has played he has only allowed 4 goals. He has looked like he wants to be the starter of this team. Is it time that Varlamov took a break from net. We will soon see who is going to be starting in the next few games. Mike Green got 1 point in hsi first game with the Blackhawks and the rest of the team just kept on firing on all cylinders scoring more than the opponent could manage to score. Time will only tell on how good Mike green will do witht this team and how long the the rest of the dmen will be staying here.

The Blackhawks came out tonight firing on all cylinders against the flyers. Winning the game 7-1 against them. David Laliberte came out tonight to show that he is a top line rw scoring a couple goals and grabbing a couple assists for first star of the game. All the lines were firing tonight getting a goal from all 3 lines. That shows that this team is well rounded from the top line to the third line. It was Luke Schenn's last game with the team tonight and after the game the Blackhawks welcomed Mike Green to the team. Green finally arriving after a long awaited time table for him to finally become a blackhawk.
After tonights game GM Brent went out and signed a young propsect for his farm team next season. He is very happy to finally get a chance at a nice prospect but he does need some work before he will be an all-star type player.

Well before you all start snickering and saying just how bad a GM, me Mr. Gagne is. Here is some of my reasoning.
Mr. Green on paper is a great Dman this is true but I am all about what have you done for me lately. In the case of Mr. Green that answer is ZERO!! A player with this much promise that isn't putting up any stats is not worthwhile to our organization. Mr. Schenn is probably not the answer but the change will be good and to be quite honest, I really like all the extras that came along with the player. I have made other changes this year and people have laughed but I have moved to the top ten in the standings and played top notch teams like the Leafs and the Habs in very close matches.
The season is long and a few more deals can still be made is others have the guts like the Hawks did in making a deal with this crazy GM. Don't be afraid to make offers. The Whalers trade block will come out soon.

GM Brent has been on the phone a lot lately trying to get deals done that maybe will jump start that farm team of his that can't manage to play consistent hockey. The first deal GM Brent managed to pull off was with the division rival columbus blue jackets. GM Brent is hoping that the deal benefits his team and doesnt slow down the offence. the deal looked like this :

Then from this deal GM Brent needed another first round pick that he could trade to get a top defenceman in the league. He started talking to the senators who needed a farm lw and were very interested in one of the oil kings lws and he was out of the age group that GM Brent likes so he allowed the player to be dealt. that deal looked like the following:

The hawks had 10 tcs in phl 10 so it wasnt much of a thought that he could deal some tcs to make this deal happen. In the end the blackhawks definitely will win this deal after you see what the pick was traded for.

GM brent then went on to talk the whalers GM which they had a deal in mind for a couple weeks now it was waiting on gm brent to get that dam first which he finally did. he went on to deal it to the whalers in the following deal:

We will start off talking about the Oil Kings whose roster is getting changed yet agian this year. Linden Rowat looked very shake in his last two games with the oil kings winning 1 out of the 2 games. The game that the oil kings won was not because of him just that the offence managed to score 8 goals while rowat allowed 6. The oil kings have been actively shopping ryan johnson and have finally found him a new home going to the ottawa senators along with a few tcs. In return the team acquired a first round pick which they will now swap for a dman that is muchly needed on this roster.

Now to the blackhawks who had to play 3 games tonight. Coming out with 3 wins is a great night for the roster who have been playing a little unsteady lately. With news of a top defenceman on his way to the blackhawks to strengthen up the d even more. Beating the red wings twice in one night felt good putting us that much further in front of them.

DONE DEAL

The Columbus Blue Jackets have finalized at trade with their rival, the Chicago BlackHawks. GM Colston has said from the begining that no player is untouchable if they continue to under perform.

The Blue Jackets just sent farm goalie and fan favorite, Taylor Dakers and their PHL1o 1St RND pick to the BlackHawks in return for Linden Rowat and their PHL10 2ND RND pick. Rowat brings a 9 9 rating to the struggling Wolverines, who currently sit in last place in the Pacific division.

At 12-15-1 after 28 games, I would say that the Wolverines have under performed. GM Colston is banking on Rowat to get the goals against down as the have scored 100 while allowing their opponents to score 101. "he Wolverines don't have that 1st line that strikes fear into other teams. We needed to make a move in order to stir the pot and change the chemistry" Colston said.

Colston is well know for pulling the trigger on any deal that fits into his plans. This deals could end up being one that fails to produce the much needed benefits that Colston is looking for if the players keep under performing.

I just have a few words to say. Starting with, Happy Holidays to all of the managers and their teams in the PHL. Now that the niceness is out of the way, let's get down to it.

How the h@%$ does a whole organization score absolutely zero goals in three games. I think the players of the Whalers and the Saints have all started their holidays early. The "PRO" boys go 7-1 then blow a stinker and get shutout. The Saints drop two in a row with out a goal. I am completely beside myself. The nostradamus, Dougie Mac, can't possibly be right. NO I REFUSE TO BELIEVE IT!!! These boys better straighten out or no one is untouchable and if no one trades with me then I guess I will have to talk to the commish and convince him that I need to send a lot of players to the minors to "condition" them.

The Oil Kings dont know how to win as of late. It lookes like they are going to go back to how they were playing off the beginning of the year not knowing what anything means except for a loss. Linden Rowat has looked like SHIT! in net and gm brent is going to start asking gms around the league if they are interested in a 9/9 goalie for the farm. The only bright side out of all these losses is the play of Vladmir Sbotka who has been on a scoring rage. He has taken over first place on the team for points. Cal O'Reilly and Ryan Johnson have not contributed to the team at all as of late. Maybe this team needs a shake up. GM Brent is going to start taking offers on anyone on this team. Let the trade offers start rolling in.

SPANKED!!!

ST.LOUIS - That was the outcome of the game against the Blues as they got steamrolled 11-5. The Blues held it in with the Bruins for the first 2 periods only down 7-5. Then Doug Mac's Smack column was brought up by one of the waterboys, which none of the players heard about. The Blues were praised to be, "not as TERRIBLE as the Jackets!!!!". Oh how wrong that was as the Blues then packed it in for the night and gave the Bruins another 4 goals in the third. Not to say we would have won but it would have been a lot closer than the final result. Perhaps the guys were thinking, what a nice gesture and decided to help the Bruins out statistically. Whatever the case may be, the waterboy has been fired and the team back to the drawing board (the count is now at 25 times). Jeff Glass has now been relegated to keeping the water bottles fresh while sitting on the bench. His inability to read has ensured no further articles will be talked about during the games.

Bruins DEAL....BIG!!!!

The Winds of Change in Bean Town….

Well MacIntyre said there would be WHOLESALE changes…and he was not lying!!!

In what is EASILY the biggest trade in this PHL season, the Bruins and Flyers swapped Stars and futures in an attempt to wake their teams up.

Heading to Philly; RELUCTANLY I might add; are Winger Ryan Bayda, Dman Derek Morris, and Center Steven Reinprecht. Reinprecht was the only player to respond to my text, and was NOT holding punches about his LACK of enthusiasm to play for a woman!!!

Bayda has been unhappy since the offseason acquisition of Matt Martin; he will happily accept his spot on a Star studded flyers lineup.

Derek Morris as you remember was supposed to be the guy to solidify the back end for the Bruins….he and GMAC have not seen eye to eye, and his minutes had diminished in Boston.

Coming back to the bruins are reigning Norris trophy winner Brian Lee, runner up for the Calder last year Brett MacLean, and Center Derek Armstrong.

Lee is the PRIZE of this deal, many feel he is the BEST defenceman in the league, and the Bruins need A LOT of help in the back end. Unfortunately Lee has not reacted wee to the Hiring of Tanis whatever her name is, and has checked himself into a rehab facility for depression…..MacIntyre for his part has offered to allow Lee to move into his downtown condo….word is Lee gladly accepted and will do so when he leaves rehab.

MacLean is a SNIPER….period!!! The Bruins ONCE again have a logjam at LW, as MacLean and Martin will battle for PP time. Both players are under 22, and should be manning the left side for YEARS.

Armstrong is a performer, and a LEADER. He provides leadership, toughness, and will skate THROUGH the boards to get to a puck….something MacIntyre looks forward to watching….”Army is a guy we have targeted before….he is not a spring chicken, but he wants a cup…and he has volunteered to do what it takes…”

Also swapped were picks….Bruins send their 1st this year, for the Flyers 1st and 2nd next year. Many feel this trade was VERY one sided, and that GM Chazz Matthews may have panicked…..general consensus is the Bruins win, but time will tell!!!

IS IT A BLOCKBUSTER??

Rumors are starting to swirl that All Star defenceman, now injured, Brian Lee has been shipped out of Philadelphia. Though not yet confirmed, stories have Lee going to the Boston Bruins. Shocked? Wait! Last years rookie scoring sensation, Brett MacLean, is said to be gone too. Shocked? Wait again! Flyers Captain Derek Armstrong is rumored to be included. With Lee injured and getting older and Armstrong's future questionable, it appears that MacLean may be the driving force. It is however possible that Lee and Armstrong may not be finished moving.

So who is coming back? It looks like Lee will be replaced by 31 year old Derek Morris. Ryan Bayda will be replacing rookie Maclean and Steven Reinprecht, signed through 2012, will be centering the second line.

The Flyers are also giving up a couple of picks, second in PHL9 and a first in PHL10, getting the Bruins first back in PHL9. A couple of tc's will be tossed Beantown's way as well.....

Blues/Islanders Strike A Deal

ST.LOUIS - The Blues struck a deal late last night sending Center Zach Parise, who just finished his 6 game suspension, to the Islanders for Right Winger Sam Gagner. Both teams with literally nothing to lose (or win for that matter) were able to each fill a need of the other team. The Blues have been looking for a Right Winger since the beginning of the season after losing Martin Samuelsson when he decided to venture into Siberia. No one has seen or heard from him since. The move reunites childhood friends John Tavares and Sam Gagner, who hopefully in this sad, sad season can give the fans in St.Louis something to cheer about. Either Patrik Elias or Alex Tanguay will be slotted in on the Left Wing to give them a line of some sort.

Finally the captain, Marek Svatos and rookie flop,Patrick Maroon have gotten their s@#* together and combined to score a very important game winner vs that powerhouse, the HABS. What a fantastic game played with speed and skill rather than our usual aggression. Congrats go out to the HABS for a great game but for us this is like winning the CUP already. We know and now the HABS know, we can beat the best and that is golden.

Well now if we could only beat an Adam's division opponenet except the Bruins. The last six games have proved to be exceptional. Going 4-2 with a shut-out win and a close overtime loss to possibly the best team in the PHL, the Canadians (I can't believe I just said that). So much for the Adam's division being a bad division, we are looking like the cream of the crop. Being in last place (but making a run) in the best division in the PHL is not an embarrassment but an honor just to be in the mix. These men of the Whalers have had a great run with veteran Tim Kerr and wonderful import, Stanislov Chistov leading with 6 points each over this span. Chistov leading with 6 goals is phenomenal!! Ryan Miller in net has been absolutely stellar allowing 13 goals on 174 shots during this run. The shut-out vs the Oilers is amazing since that team wouldn't even cinsider a trade offer sent to them, not even a counter offer which totally confuses GM Paul Gagne. If it wasn't for the goose egg against the Sabres and Brett Sutters lucky overtime goal, these last 6 games would have been outstanding. I think coach Pat Quinn finally has the boys buying into the system and captain Marek Svatos is trying his best by staying out of the box and getting point when he can. The addition of HOF Tim Kerr has been an inspiration with 6 points and 24 PIM over the last 6 games. The only other super aggressive players over this span have been Logan Pyett and Mike Green with 25 and 22 PIM respectively. Chistov's 6 goals and Paul Kurceba's 5 assists have led the offense.

With the losses of Keith Tkachuck, HOF Rick Vaive, Tyler Haskins and Bob Sanguinetti have brought the wonderful arrival of Patrick Berglund, HOF Tim Kerr, Jim Slater and Logan Pyett. GM Paul Gagne is extremely satisfied with his new acquisitions. With that GM Paul Gagne says their are a few people on the block with this team and they may be Anders Eriksson, slumping Patrick Maroon, Kyle Wellwood and Jason Chimera.

The Whalers, with a few slight changes, look like they are definately going to give the rest of this division a run for their money. Speaking of money, GM Paul Gagne's bet with the woeful Bruins seems so far to be a good bet with a one game lead right now and Mac wanting to have a yard sale for his team (why would anyone want his junky players). The draft picks that the Whalers have picked up lately make the future of this franchise look very bright.

The Spruce Grove Saints have had a great run lately, going 4-1 over there last 5 games with one being an exciting overtime game with the game winner coming from Peter Olvecky. Maxime Ouellet has been stellar in net allowing 17 goals on 145 shots during this 5 game run. The offense has been led by Jakub Voracek's 5 goals and 5 assists each from Cody Hodgson and Stephan Weiss. The Saints have managed to score an astounding 26 goals over this period as well. If the boys can just stay out of the box, they amassed a total of 220 PIM, they might truly dominate this league. Cody Hodgson and Roman Voloshenko have been leading the train to the box with 32 and 28 minutes respectively. Coach Gordie Howe has been extremely impressed with the fight in the boys and can see a few of them making the jump rather easily up to the big club if needed. Veteran Scott Hollis has been trying to lead with 6 points and 9 PIM in the recent run while captain Daymond Langkow has been super aggressive with 1 goal and 21 PIM over the same span.

The one minor deal that was done( just to help out the Majors) with Daren Machesny and Mathieu Biron leaving while Martin Grenier and Richard Bachman arriving has neither hurt nor helped the team. GM Paul Gagne is always willing to make a move as long as it doesn't hurt the team too much and hopefully helps in the future whether immediate future or the distant future. Some guys that may be on the bubble are Ty Wishart, Justin Williams and Peter Olvecky.

The Oil Kings came into last nights games needing one win to take over first place from the spirit. The spirit went on to lose both of the games they played leaving the door wide open for the oil kings to step in and take control of first place. They came out firing and managed to win the game in a very tough fought game. The oil kings now sit in first place in there division and are hoping to keep up their stellar play and just keep packing on the wins and hopefully running away with it. Cal O'reilly has finally surpassed ryan johnson on the team in point. He has been a great pick up last season and has done very well in the 2 years he has been on the farm. O'Reilly and Johnson are playing together very well this season and are both looking for good rerates. Sbotka's first season on the farm is looking good. He has been on a role as of late and just cant be stopped.

Bruins Interim Head Coach & General Manager was ejected from tonight's game versus the Ottawa Senators after he left the bench to attack his backup goalie Michael DuPont. In a scene straight out of that 70's Paul Newman Classic Slap Shot.....MacIntyre jumped the boards and streaked across the ice towards the Bruins Goal. Luckily for DuPont, Captain Eric Staal and Dman Brent Seabrook intervened.

DuPont for his part allowed 9 Goals on 56 shots. The .800 save percentage combined with DuPont's lack of drive surely means DuPont's days are numbered in Boston.

"NO COMMENT" was all MacIntyre had to say.....as he walked away he decided to comment, "This whole team is a JOKE!!!! I fired two coaches for WHAT??? If these guys don't wanna play....I will find some guys who do. When Asked about DuPont specifically the RABID GM had this to say...."DuPont, is gone....we're gonna re-sign Karlis Skrastins and put him in net....better yet we'll bring out the shooter tutor....that Piece of Swiss cheese is as LEAKY as Pamela Anderson at an 80's Rock showcase....." He will NEVER play another game for this team....

The fiery GM is obviously upset, and will stop at NOTHING to build a winner.

Noone could be reached for comment at league office, as rumours of a Semi-European vacation off teh coast of Southern NFLD fly around the league.

Floundering at the bottom of the Patrick Division 24 games in after being the Cinderella of PHL9, taking out the Flyers and making it to the Conference Finals, Islanders GM Jim Dexter announced today the firing of long-time coach Tom Coolen and the subsequent hiring of Halifax NS native Rick Bowness. Bowness said that, " ... relished the opportunity to take over a team that hasn't cut the mustard so far this season and see if they can ketchup to the pace-setting Penguins!" Apparently, Bowness who had been out of hockey and working for Oscar Mayer, was brought in by GM Dexter for his ability to deal with "hot dogs" like G Sebastien Centomo, C Phil Kessel and RW Sam Gagner.

For some reason, Karyia will not play on the same team with Riberiro so the deal is dead. It's kind of ironic now, he's not playing at all after Ribby suggested he keep his mouth shut!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pacific Division Heating Up.....

MEDICINE HAT - No not the PHL, but their minor league affiliates. If the playoffs were to start today, there wouldn't be a clear cut favorite as 2 points seperate the top 4 teams. However the Spirit who held an 8 point lead in first at one time have been caught by the pack have 2 games in hand. The Wolverines have 3 games in hand as well and winning all 3 would put them 1 point back of the pack. This isn't to say the league champs will necessarily come from this division but it does make an interesting race at the 1/3 mark of the season.

On to the pro, the Blue Jackets have been winless in 14 games and have now fallen to the cellar of the division tied with the Blues. The Red Wings are a mere 2 points ahead of both teams but haven't faired much better losing their second straight game to the Blues. Maybe the Blues won't finish last overall, but then again second last doesn't say much either.

"Dougie, simply put, I brought these guys in here....I assembled this team....I really could not believe they were as bad as they started this season. The boys have stepped up as of late, but we still seem to take nights off. I seem to have over estimated our team defence. It has to get better."

I asked him how he plans on doing this..."Well we have implemented a new puck side scheme, that has slowed the bleed, but honestly I think the trigger needs to be pulled.....I dealt Jovo last year, and really have not found his replacement. Seabrook and Lynch have been solid, but we need a true number one."

You heard it here first, MacIntyre is is the market for a TOP end dman, and rumours have already begun of a BLOCKBUSTER in the works!!!!

Gaylene Absent, Stampede Lose, Clarke Missing Flyers Lose

In yet another bizarre twist to the goings on in Philadelphia and Commanche, Tx., the Stampede lost 5-4 to the 67's without a head coach. Bench boss, Tannis Gaylene, the first female in the league, was absent yet again from the game. The twist is that Flyers coach, Bobby Clarke was also absent as the parent club was doubled 8-4 by the Bruins. All Star dman, Brian Lee did get on the board with an assist, finally, but was -2 for the night.

Rumor is that it may have been Lee's last game in a Flyer uniform. GM Jazz Matthews, admits that he has been sent what he calls a serious offer, but admits it may have to be tweeked.

Meanwhile, the whereabouts of Gaylene and Clarke remains a mystery.

LEE NOTICIBLY ABSENT

Flyers defenceman Brian Lee was absent from Philadelphia's 4-0 shutout over the New York Rangers and was not to be seen in Philly's 5-5 draw versus the Ottawa Senators. In the two games which saw the Flyers take 58 shots, the All Star dman was no where to be seen. That is not to say he wasn't dressed, he was.

Against the Rangers, Lee was all but invisible, not having a single recordable stat...not even a hit. His effort saw hi rewarded with no ice time in the third period, finding himself on the short end of Coach Clarke's leash, in the dog house.

After a lacklustre start to his game against Ottawa, Lee rode the pine for the entire second and third periods. Clarke was no where to be found after the game for comment, but was seen talking, no shouting, into his cell phone outside the arena. Most of the words used are not pritable here, but Clarke did return to the dressing room with a smile on his face and passing Lee as he exited. Niether man spoke to the other.

Rumors have begun that Lee is being shopped around and that a couple of teams showed early interest before backing out. For his part, GM Jazz Matthews, says he knows his club is not up to last season and yes there is tension in the dressing room. He did however refuse to comment when asked if there was any truth to the rumor that Lee has been seen with newly hired
Central Texas Stampede coach, Tannis Gaylene. When he wouldn't answer that question, another scribe asked why Gaylene was absent from the bench in the Stampede's recent loss to the Chops. Matthews looked stunned and left the room.

Blackhawks Press Release

The blackhawks came out tonight trying to catch back up to the maple leafs. They managed to defeat the sabres 3-1 with matt niskanen pocketing to rockets from the point both beating justin peters glove high. Matt niskanen was definitely the 1st star of the game. In the 2nd game tonight the blackhawks beat the blues yet again 5-3. Matt Niskanen tallied one more goal in this game. Matt niskanen is tearing it up from the point this season with 12goals and 5assists. He is one of the better scoring dman so far this year. If he keeps this up he might have more goals then all my forwards at the end of the season. GM Brent is very satisfied with the way the team has been playing lately. Lets hope that the team keeps playing the way they are. Watch our games if you want to see many goals go into the net.

Oil Kings Press Release

In the last game day the Oil Kings were forced to play 3 games in one night. The Oil kings managed to win all 3 games with many goals being scored. The Oil Kings won all 3 games while scoring 18 goals and allowing 12 goals all in all it was not a good night for goal tender linden rowat. They began the night off playing the Colts, we managed to jump out to a 4-2 lead. the colts did manage to get with in one goal half way through the 2nd period but jan hejda scored late in the 2nd to secure a victory the oil kings thought. going into the 3rd period with a 2 goal lead was what they wanted but when the colts managed to get another goal coach mactavish got pissed and started yelling at them to play solid defence which they managed to do not allowing the colts to tie up the game. it was a well fought battle in this game. The second game of the evening for the oil kings was a breeze compared to the first game. The oil kings blew the scrmneagls away with a 5-1 victory. In the third game of the evening for the oil kings they played lokmonster. this game was a well fought battle between both teams with the oil kings coming away with a 8-7 victory. the oil kings are streaking as of late and seem to be a team that wont back down to anyone. Ryan Johnson and Cal O'Reilly are leading the team in points. Johnson having 13 goals and 8 assists as a top line player and Cal O'Reilly being the top line center with 3 goals and 18 assists. Both players having great seasons so far.

Please note that the pro league files for rosters, teamstats, leaders and standings are not updated. The files sent to me were incomplete so I left the previous days stats up. That way if you are trading you have all the teams listed although a day behind as opposed to only half the teams showing. Otherwise the pro results and schedule are up to date. I will either fix this when Michelle sends me updates or else I will just update after the next set of games which is the more likely scenario. The farm stats are fine with the exception of the injuries missing. The file I received had the pro injuries listed with the farm schedule for some reason.

Parise Hurt in Blues Big Win

ST.LOUIS - The Blues bounced back with a big win against division rival Detroit Red Wings with an 8-3 win. This keeps them pace with a few teams that are also sitting near the bottom of the league. The victory, however was costly as Zach Parise caught a rut and ended up going into the boards hard. He has an undisclosed lower body injury and will miss the next 8 games. The good thing is the team has some depth at center with David Bolland and Jason Jaspers signing just after the start of the season.

On a funnier note, the original lines that were written on the white board prior to the game somehow got erased when Patrick Elias was trying to teach John Tavares how to speak Czech. In the mix of words were all the players names. One's guess is that they were trying to describe each of their teammates in Czech. The players saw a bunch of names written in the same line and assumed that was the lineup for the night. Even backup goaltender Jeff Glass was shocked to see himself as the starting goalie. Whatever the case may be, it worked for tonight.

The Oil Kings are on a good streak as of late. Cal O'reilly has been racking up the points so far this year. The Oil kings go into the next series of games tired but after the next series of games the team will be even more fatigued. They play 3 games all in one night. I dont expect them to win all 3 games because they are going to be tired.

The blackhawks are doing very well too even though they have been falling in the powerpoll. The powerpoll means nothing to this team they just go out every night and put in their best efforts. Lookout for many high scoring games to start unraveling with the team finally cementing the chemistry together.

Los Angeles Kings Undefeated in 13 Games

The Los Angeles Kings have been red hot since the beginning of the season pulling off an incredible 13 game unbeaten streak as of Tuesday night when they downed the Barons 3-2. Many of their games have been extremely close wins or ties, but what has really stuck out is the goals for at 80 versus goals against at 53. They are fairly even home/away, with a slight edge at home with 6 wins versus 4, but the story really has been the production of the King's primary line.

Bouchard has been powerful with 35 points in only 18 games, on a pace for a 159 point season if he was to remain healthy. His ability to pass the puck is challenged by no one and he is also 7th in the league for goals with 12.

Bouchard's main target for his accurate passes is Barry Tallackson, who leads the league with 21 goals in 18 games, a pace that could total up to 95 goals for the season should he continue to fire pucks in at a scoring rate of 27 % accuracy.

Ohlund, Lynch and Carlsson are on the leaderboard for defensemen as the team seems to follow an open and exciting style of play characterized by taking offensive chances.

Although the first line dominates the league in terms of points, goals, and plus minus, there are a couple of players of note who are also having quite remarkable seasons but are overshadowed by the top line for press.

Todd Marchant, the team's second line center, is on pace for a solid 70 point year, while young gun, Nicklas Backstrom has contributed an amazing 10 goals in 18 games of secondary scoring. Backstrom's on pace for over 40 goals and has been responsible for some of the most exciting rushes for the team as a result of his amazing talents.

Captain Doug Gilmore has been a leader in the dressingroom, but really hasn't shown up to the games yet this season, with only one point, and a few players manage to be minus 6 on a team with others with a plus 24 rating.

Its difficult to say what will happen as teams hit the quarter and mid-point of the season, but it is safe to say that the LA Kings look great and have taken the league by storm in an unexpected early run.

The top line of Robert Lang, Tuomas Philman, and Enver Lisin are on FIRE. Philman scored his 12th goal of the season last night, and was assisted by HOF/STUD dman Garth Butcher. Butcher incidently was the victim of a CHEAP shot late in the third, and the PHL is currently reviewing the tape.

Stampede Hire a WHAT??

The Central Texas Stampede have fired bench boss, Kevin Miller and replaced him with...A GIRL! That's right, Tannis Gaylene is now the head coach of the Central Texas team. With the Stampede falling fast, Miller and Flyers GM, Jazz Matthews got into a shouting match at an airport lounge after another devastating loss. Matthews was heard to shout that a girl could do better. At that point the Texas A&M Womens Ice Hockey team was passing by and coach Tannis Gaylene said she would take the job. Both Miller and Matthews were stunned, but Matthews reacted first firing Miller and hiring Gaylene.

At this point we are not sure of the logistics of things, like dressing rooms, etc.....but we will follow this story closely.....for the Stampede, in a plane over Texas, Breydon Strait reporting.

Sub Par Play Leads to Trade Rumors

So, a sub par performance by the latest edition of the Philadelphia Flyers has lead to trade rumors swirling through the front office. It seems that the rumors not onny concern the big club, but the Central Texas Stampede are having problems as well. A coaching change in Texas is all but guaranteed. More news on that as it developes.

Speaking with Flyers GM Jazz Matthews, he denies that there are rumblings in the dressing room. However, this reporter can tell you that the teams recent effort to sign Mike Richards and subsequent shot at moving Joe Thornton has caused some strife. Add to that the FA signing of center David Hallstrom and things start to look a little tight in the middle. With team leader Derek Armstrong stuggling, his name has appeared as the most likely to move. With the rumors swirling, the only names that have not been mentioned are the aforementioned Joe Thornton and scoring leader Henrik Zetterberg. Defenceman Brian Lee, points out thathe has a no trade clause and would not be willing to waive it, but we have heard all that before. It is also known that Matthews has tried to contact at least one team, three time, with no reply. That would indicate that predictions of a possible trade after the 10 game mark are indeed accurate and may have been in the works for some time....more as it developes, Bubba Davis reporting.

Blues Win 2nd in A Row!

ST.LOUIS - A surprise 2nd win in a row for the Blues, following up the 4-0 win over the Canucks witha 6-2 win over the Capitals. Slowly the team is starting to gel but still has a long ways to go. They are now within 2 pts of a few teams from leaving the cellar of the league. The team also boasts the leagues 3rd best powerplay.

"It's fun coming to the rink now as opposed to the beginning of the year. Mind you its only our 3rd win in as many games, but we will take it. Expectations were already low to begin with as the team is rebuilding but we don't want to just hand games over to teams." says John Tavares, "Hopefully we can keep this little roll going."

Rangers PR - The Honeymoon Is Over!

We all knew it was coming. The start of the Rangers' season was far too good to be true. With a 6-4 start and being ranked 2nd overall in last week's PowerPoll, the boys in blue were off to a fantastic start to the season. Many were congratulating GM Kullman on his team's early success, but he continually let others know that the bubble would have to burst sooner or later.

Honeymoons do always end, but it is unfortunate that this one had to end with such a bang. The once 6-4 Rangers are now in the midst of a 4-game losing streak which has seen their division leading record fall to second worst in the Patrick. Forunately, the play of goaltender Mattias Modig has still been strong, and rookie centre Brian Boyle has continued to play well.

The conspiracy theorists, however, can't help but notice a correlation between the Rangers downturn and the now infamous HSL2 glitch which saw all streaks and slumps erased. Once these all important streaks were lost, this once red-hot team became ordinary once again.

Perhaps the Rangers will be able to mount another winning streak. But it is much more likely that we will see a fast descent down the standings until the team is where many had picked them to end the season - at the bottom.

BLUES WIN!!!! BLUES WINS!!!

ST.LOUIS - Call it what you will? A glitch in the sim? Perhaps H1N1 infects programs now too. Sympathy from the simmer or even the program? A lucky day or the Blues finally wake up? Whatever reason it is, the Blues decided if there was one game they were going to play it was this game. The St.Louis Blues beat the one of the top teams in the PHL in the Vancouver Canucks 4-0. It was a collective effort all around. The Blues may not win another game for some time but they will again enjoy this win at home with the fans. As promised with the previous win, the losers will be receiving a congratulatory package from none other than Mr. John Tavares. Who is next in line?

On a side note, the Blues have made a minor deal with the Seals, sending Jack Johnson and Tomas Plekanec for Mark Popovic and Nigel Dawes. Both forwards have been healthy scratches all year. In the defensemen, the Blues lose a defensive defender but brought in another puck carrier to help move the puck out.

Hello everyone this is Popar Azzi of the Connecticut Post once again. We have a real treat for you today. I had the opportunity to corner the Hartford Whalers Gm, Mr. Paul Gagne, to ask him a few questions.
Welcome Mr. Gagne and how are you today?
Well thanks for asking Popar. I am fine health wise, professionally, not so good.
Why whatever do you mean?
Why are you so smarmy, Popar? You know exactly what I mean! Having to pay the GM of Philly, Jazz, a sizable amount of cash due to these bums of ours not performing, really hurts. If they keep this up our attendance will faulter and that will cost me further.
What do you intend to do about this?
I have a few pokers in the flames. We will see what happens. It seems a lot of other managers don't like dealing with us.
Well that's not true now is it Mr. Gagne, did you not just stike a deal with the struggling Leafs?
It was a minor deal. All I did was fill a need of a fellow GM in a crisis as I would do, if I could, for any other manager that came crawling in. Some of the other GM's that I have tried dealing with don't seem to open to counter offering or they don't know how. Of course any deal that I initiate will be heavily loaded in our favor, well in my mind anyways. I will make some mistakes along the way and wholeheartedly understand this as a learning curve. I really just want to work on the future so that I have the team I want.
So what you are saying is that you are not happy with your team so far this year?
Popar, really, what have you been watching so far? WE ARE TERRIBLE!! The boys haven't lived up to their billing so far and I really want to get rid of the whole bunch. I mean there are a few untouchables but you understand my frustrations?
I certainly do.
I mean I am happy with our win over the terrible Bruins but we have to step up more than that. I am sure things will change for the better in the future but only time will tell.

What is wrong in Minnesota? Repeated beatings at the hands of the PHL's worst has this team in a tail spin. Is it the players? I dont think so, we got some talent here. Could it be the coaching, hmmm, could be, changes are coming boy. Could it be our liberal drug testing policies? preposterous. We've got our feelers out and are looking to make some changes lets see how it goes. Quite honestly the North Stars have't been the same since sending big Al Iafrate off to the tigers. The night the lights went out in the PHL

The notorious HLS2 glitch. It tends to come quickly without warning and haunts HLS2 leagues every so often. So when it struck the PHL, GMs were scrambling, wondering if the season would have to be restarted? What about streaks and slumps? Well once the dust settled, everything seemed to be fine. But once the lights came back on in the arenas around the league, there was this result just sitting there..........

ST.LOUIS - Sad but true, the St.Louis Blues celebrated their first win (albeit the so called error which wasn't an error as it turns out) against the EDMONTON OILERS!!!!! To honor the momentous occasion, the Blues are sending an autographed Rod Langway jersey to GM Dan Kent. Who knows when the next win will be, but for now we will celebrate the one win (yes we lost the next 2 games by a combined scored of 12-3). WAHOO!!!! The next lucky "LOSER" may get a John Tavares jersey, signed and given in person. Who be the lucky team next? The Blackhawks? The Northstars? Two teams that barely came away with a tie? Patience, Patience, Patience

Just like last season, both the Leafs and Majors stumbled out of the gate, bringing back memories of last seasons brutal start. Unlike last season though, this Leaf team has no excuses. There will be no big trades, landing big named dmen. No adding top notch , cheap retiring veteran help. No bail outs from their ownership group. Its sink or swim with what you got. So with that in mind, their gm did what many other gms have a tough time doing when things arent going your way.............

DONT CHANGE ANYTHING!!.

What? You mean, in the face of a losing start to the season, we are advising other teams to not make changes? Yup. No trades. No line changes. NOTHING!.

So how has it worked so far? Well both farm and pro teams have had mirror opposite 5 game results. A poor first 5 followed by a great second 5. How did they manage to do that? By leaving their lines as is. Sure, there was a goalie change in there. Infact, their gm instructed the simmer to use HLS2 sim lines for the farm. And what it did do was establish something most gms overlook in this sim.

Chemistry.

Thats the unmeasurable word that gives teams huge boosts or huge slumps without any real explanation on paper to back it up. Trust me it works, but yet its the number 1 hardest thing for a gm to do, even a long time gm will tell you how hard it is to resist tinkering with lines, or making an early trade when panic starts to set in.

This reporter has seen it all over the years with this crazy sim, and the one thing ive learnt is sometimes its best to leave things as is. At least until you lose to the Blues...then you HAVE to make a change ;).

ST.LOUIS - 1/8th of the season has gone by and the Blues are sitting in the cellar of the league as expected. Still without a win, the Blues did manage to pull out their 2nd tie in a row against a division rival, the Chicago Blackhawks. Khabibulin faced a 50+ shots in the tie, upping his league leading total to 376 in 10 games, way ahead of Tyler Plante of the Red Wings by 40 shots (330 shots in 9 games). The Blues have also managed to score a paltry 16 goals only led by John Tavares with 3.

The bright side for now is the Blues have tied the last 2 games scoring almost half their season goals in those 2 ties. They are also 1 pt within getting out of the basement as the Ducks have 4 pts on the season although having a game in hand.

Who will be the first team to be downed by the Blues? Who will be that lucky team?

Flyers GM Laughs Out Loud.....

Sitting at an airport kiosk, spending change on the net and having the occasional beverage...I felt the need to comment on a couple of posts and getting nto a bit of a war of the words, not my usual M.O. So I apologize to the Borins GM and promise to double check my research with a pen, paper and clear mind, when I get to my final destination next week and have some time to make sure that I am accurate. That being said, I am not far off in my comments, but admit I should have done more accurate research before making them....I also send out CONGRATS to the Borins on defeating the Flyers, not once, but TWICE!!.....on their way to a stellar 3 and 5 start. We're glad we coould help keep you out of the cellar. We are sure no one has ever accomplished that feat before (sarcasm). .......

Colts PR

The Colts continued their hot streak tonight with a win and a tie. The topline was front and center in both games tonight. In the first games, the colts tied the Blades 3-3 in a tough game. The newly formed topline scored 2 of the 3 goals and combined for 5 pts. Tomas Kubes was able to stop 25 of 28 shots.
In the second games, the Colts were able to squeak out a 4-3 win with a OT goal scored by Timofei Shishkanov. Again the topline came scoring 3 of the 4 goals and combining for 7 pts. With the win the Colts now have a 5 game undefeated streak and are 2-0-2 with Tomas Kubes in goal.
The newly formed topline hasn't taken long to gel. In 3 games, the line dubbed the "S.O.S" lines (Shishkanov, O'Marra, Staal) which also includes the defensive pairing of John Erksine and Jay Mckee has combined for 8 goals and 11 assists.

Whalers Win Huge

Well this is Popar Azzi, of the Connecticut Post. Just thought I would give a little review of last nights win over the Bruins.
It was nice to see Stanislov Chistov pot two goals this game but the big story I think is that Miller had to face 34 shots and only allowed 1 past him and into the mesh. The shots were plentiful but the Bruins really only had about a dozen half real decent chances.
In the bowls of the Hartford Civic Centre after the tremendous win of the Hartford Whalers over the abismal Bruins, I was able to corner coach Pat Quinn for a quick Q&A.
Good evening coach, what a great win you had there.
"Thanks Popar. Yeah the boys got it done"
Well coach you seem rather matter of fact about this huge divisional win
"I don't believe it to be as huge as you say. We knew we could win, it was just a matter of excecution."
The boys definately looked pumped up and ready to go. What do you think of the wager between your GM, Paul Gagne, and the Gm of the Bruins?
"Well to tell you the truth, I think it was idiotic. The boys and I are just starting to get to know each other right now and that guy in the ivory tower seems to want to put more pressure on us. He also has a tendency to get involved in changing lines, which I always thought was my job!"
I did notice that you seemed a bit tougher for this game. So you are saying that this was your GM'S plan and not yours?
"Yes."
Well that is a short response. Care to expand?
"No not really. Except to say that we will have different lines for the next couple of games."
Why would you mess with what seems to be working?
"We got lucky with those lines. As far as toughness goes, we are a bunch of wimps and Mr. Gagne should look to change that. Instead of wasting funds on bets, maybe we should bring in some players. For now we should be concentrating on goal scoring and stopping shots against, not trying to pump out our chests. That is what the Bruins do."
So you are saying that the Whalers are more talented than the Bruins but not as tough?
"Yes."
Well I wish you well, Mr. Quinn and I hope you know what's best.
"As long as I am left alone to do my job, I believe it will be a great year. The more I am interferred with the less I can take the blame when things don't work out."

Blues Clues

ST.LOUIS - The Blues have no idea how to score. In the past 5-6 games the Blues have managed to only score 1 goal. These Blues probably wouldn't do that much better in the PMHL.
There will be trades made sometime in the near future, but for now the Blues will do whatever they can to stop the bleeding (if that is possible). The Blues did go out and pilfer 2 free agents in Jason Jaspers and Dave Bolland. Both are two way players that can help plug some holes (there are too many to stop completely). Whoever has the Blues first round draft pick is smiling right now.

MEDICINE HAT - The Tigers are sitting mid pack in probably the tough Pacific Division and doing so without starter Niklas Backstrom having played any games yet. Still nursing a slightly sore back J.S. Giguere has been playing all the games so far and has been doing a stellar job. This year's edition of the Tigers is better than last as they now have the pieces in place to compete unlike last season. Should make for an interesting race in the Pacific.

Rangers PR - How are the Rangers .500?

It's the question that has the entire PHL confused. How are the Rangers, a team that was predicted by many to place dead last in the PHL this season, starting the PHL9 campaign off at 4-4 and having outscored their opponents 27 to 20? It baffles the mind, even of Rangers fans and supporters.

Perhaps, though, the team needs look no further than at their goaltender, Mattias Modig. Last year's Express keeper has turned into this year's Rangers surprise, as Modig (or "Moe" as he is known to his new teammates) has a paltry 2.50 GAA and a save percentage above .910.

Through 8 games, all of which Modig has started, the Rangers have also shown confidence in their goaltender. Enough confidence that they are able to play a more offensive system, thereby producing 27 goals (or 3.375 per game).

"We're playing great right now," said Rangers captain David Backes. "The guys feel like we can be a real underdog team this year, you know. I mean, no one expects us to win anything, so every time we go out there and play well, we feel like we've proven them all wrong."

It is still early in the season, but it is great to see this group of young players go out every night and fight for a win. It may not continue like this all season, but we can hope.

Blackhawks PR

The blackhawks came out tonight and picked up a nice win. Winning 5-1 with many players getting points. Its nice to see the chemistry connecting in all the lines and Varlamov playing very well in net. As long as Varlamov keeps playing til he fullest we should continue to see the Hawks on the winning end of games. After tonights games though the Blackhawks took a huge hit to there defence. Losing James Wisniekski to suspension for 2 games. This could break our defensive line we have going so far this season. Lets hope for the 2 games that he is out that the rest of the d-men step in and fill in the hole. Last years trade deadline pick up jonathon cheechoo has scored in every game so far this season. All the lines seem to be clicking lets hope that they continue to do this every night.

Killer Whalers Lie in Wait

So I see the pitiful Bruins GM running his mouth after a lucky victory over the slumping Flyers. My boys have been taking it easy waiting to play the "B" 's. "Mr." MacIntyre has a tendency to poke a bee hive with a little stick and then get all confused when he gets stung. The Whalers didn't make a wager with the Bruins on a whim. We will be up to snuff for the game tonight and intend to put a royal ass-whooping on this chump. The Whalers are coming out a little flat this season but will turn it all around tonight. My so called "Mentor" thinks he has lead me the right way but has slammed every door I have tried to go through and has a pitiful record all on his own (no wonder we are sucking). Even with all my complaints nothing is going to prevent my Whalers from TROUNCING those LOUSY BRUINS.

Bruins FLY Past Flyers….AGAIN!!!!

Well the Bruins once again played Jeckyl and Hyde, and decided to teach Chazz “I got a STACKED team handed to me, and I am SLOWLY destroying it” Matthews ANOTHER lesson. The Bruins rolled the Flyers for the second time in as many meetings, this time 6-2.

Staal, Martin, and Doan continue to play well. Bruins have had issues defensively, and newly acquired FA Derrick Morris has found himself in coach Ray Bourque's dog house for lack luster defensive zone coverage….”He’s got to be better….we paid big dollars for Derrick, and he needs to be our Best dman!!!!”

The 3-3-1 record is deceiving, as the Bruins have played to the level of weaker opponents like the Oilers and Americans, then wiped the floor with the Flyers….

Tonight the Bruins face division rivals, and PHL doormat the Hartford Whalers. GM Paul GAG-ne ran his mouth early, and has been fairly quiet with his team struggling MIGHTLY early in PHL9. The second game on the sched is the Winnipeg Jets, who have been playing FAR better than experts predicted at 4-2.

Game of the Night should be GAG-ne’s Whalers versus the Bruins….MacIntyre is said to be offering BIG bonuses for great play tonight….should be interesting….

Colts PR

Not impressed with the recent play of the colts, coach Franschetti knew it was time for a change. The changes started in goal as underachieving 9/9 goalie Chris Beckford Tseu was not pulling his weight with a bloated 4.65 GAA and a rough .849 save %. " I think the youngster just needs some more time to reach his comfort zone and become the back stop we believe he can be" stated coach Franschetti. Luckily, the colts have Tomas Kubes, another quality starter. With Kubes in nets the Colts a 1-0-1 which included a solid 4-2 win over the Wolverines tonight. "Kubes has only played 2 games so far but he looks like he might take the ball and run with it. He played a solid game tonight against the Wolverines. Last year most would say a win against them would be a given but GM Colston has added some quality talent to the farm squad and they are not an easy win like in the past."
The other big change made was to swap both winger on the 1st and 2nd line. The top line was scoring but they were not defensively cohesive at all with -5 plus/minus so far this season. Against the wolverines tonight the new top line was dominant scoring 3 of the teams 4 goals and totalling 7 pts.
Unfortunately, not all the news was good tonight for the colts as young center Evan McGrath was savagely taken out during a scrum between the combatants. "The refs were not able to see which Wolvs player took him out but if we're able to find out then retribution will be taken by our players. Evan told us he was poked in the eye during the scrum. We will not settle for that kind of play. I doubt GM Colston would condone this type of play. We lost a good player tonight for 8 games because of a dirty play" stated coach Franschetti.

Sabres PR

Another season and another typical Sabres start...up and down play. Unlike in the past, Sabres management is unsure if the problem is a defensive breakdown or lackluster play by starting goalie, Justin Peters. In a doubleheader tonight the Sabres lost 4-3 to the Scouts and tied the Devils 6-6.

In the first game, the sabres dominated the Scouts on the offensive end but we're unable put away the opposition. The Scouts on the other hand took advantage of there opportunities scoring the last 3 goals of the game. Coach Bester was unimpressed with his teams play after having an early 3-1 lead. "I can not understand how we can have a team on the ropes and ready to fall only to get cracked with a stiff shot of reality. I think our players made the huge mistake of underestimating the Scouts. This isnt the team from last season that had a 23 winless streak."

In game 2, the Sabres had their eye on the prize too early and they paid the price as former Sabre Steve Regier buried the tying goal at 19:04 of the 3rd period. At one point early in the 2nd period the Sabres were down 4-2 and began to show some guts by scoring 3 straight goals to take a 5-4 lead. But on this night for the 2nd time in a row a Sabres win was not in the cards.

Currently the Sabres sit in 3rd place in the Adams Division behind the red hot Canadiens and the equally hot Nords. The Sabres have no problem scoring, as they average almost 4 goals a game but they can't seem to keep the puck out of the net giving up a whooping 23 goals in 6 games. Insider sources say that Kipper will get the start next game.
