In the last game day the Oil Kings were forced to play 3 games in one night. The Oil kings managed to win all 3 games with many goals being scored. The Oil Kings won all 3 games while scoring 18 goals and allowing 12 goals all in all it was not a good night for goal tender linden rowat. They began the night off playing the Colts, we managed to jump out to a 4-2 lead. the colts did manage to get with in one goal half way through the 2nd period but jan hejda scored late in the 2nd to secure a victory the oil kings thought. going into the 3rd period with a 2 goal lead was what they wanted but when the colts managed to get another goal coach mactavish got pissed and started yelling at them to play solid defence which they managed to do not allowing the colts to tie up the game. it was a well fought battle in this game. The second game of the evening for the oil kings was a breeze compared to the first game. The oil kings blew the scrmneagls away with a 5-1 victory. In the third game of the evening for the oil kings they played lokmonster. this game was a well fought battle between both teams with the oil kings coming away with a 8-7 victory. the oil kings are streaking as of late and seem to be a team that wont back down to anyone. Ryan Johnson and Cal O'Reilly are leading the team in points. Johnson having 13 goals and 8 assists as a top line player and Cal O'Reilly being the top line center with 3 goals and 18 assists. Both players having great seasons so far.

LEAGUE FILES INCOMPLETE
Please note that the pro league files for rosters, teamstats, leaders and standings are not updated. The files sent to me were incomplete so I left the previous days stats up. That way if you are trading you have all the teams listed although a day behind as opposed to only half the teams showing. Otherwise the pro results and schedule are up to date. I will either fix this when Michelle sends me updates or else I will just update after the next set of games which is the more likely scenario. The farm stats are fine with the exception of the injuries missing. The file I received had the pro injuries listed with the farm schedule for some reason.

Parise Hurt in Blues Big Win
ST.LOUIS - The Blues bounced back with a big win against division rival Detroit Red Wings with an 8-3 win. This keeps them pace with a few teams that are also sitting near the bottom of the league. The victory, however was costly as Zach Parise caught a rut and ended up going into the boards hard. He has an undisclosed lower body injury and will miss the next 8 games. The good thing is the team has some depth at center with David Bolland and Jason Jaspers signing just after the start of the season.
On a funnier note, the original lines that were written on the white board prior to the game somehow got erased when Patrick Elias was trying to teach John Tavares how to speak Czech. In the mix of words were all the players names. One's guess is that they were trying to describe each of their teammates in Czech. The players saw a bunch of names written in the same line and assumed that was the lineup for the night. Even backup goaltender Jeff Glass was shocked to see himself as the starting goalie. Whatever the case may be, it worked for tonight.

Blackhawks Press Release
The Oil Kings are on a good streak as of late. Cal O'reilly has been racking up the points so far this year. The Oil kings go into the next series of games tired but after the next series of games the team will be even more fatigued. They play 3 games all in one night. I dont expect them to win all 3 games because they are going to be tired.
The blackhawks are doing very well too even though they have been falling in the powerpoll. The powerpoll means nothing to this team they just go out every night and put in their best efforts. Lookout for many high scoring games to start unraveling with the team finally cementing the chemistry together.

Los Angeles Kings Undefeated in 13 Games
The Los Angeles Kings have been red hot since the beginning of the season pulling off an incredible 13 game unbeaten streak as of Tuesday night when they downed the Barons 3-2. Many of their games have been extremely close wins or ties, but what has really stuck out is the goals for at 80 versus goals against at 53. They are fairly even home/away, with a slight edge at home with 6 wins versus 4, but the story really has been the production of the King's primary line.
Bouchard has been powerful with 35 points in only 18 games, on a pace for a 159 point season if he was to remain healthy. His ability to pass the puck is challenged by no one and he is also 7th in the league for goals with 12.
Bouchard's main target for his accurate passes is Barry Tallackson, who leads the league with 21 goals in 18 games, a pace that could total up to 95 goals for the season should he continue to fire pucks in at a scoring rate of 27 % accuracy.
Ohlund, Lynch and Carlsson are on the leaderboard for defensemen as the team seems to follow an open and exciting style of play characterized by taking offensive chances.
Although the first line dominates the league in terms of points, goals, and plus minus, there are a couple of players of note who are also having quite remarkable seasons but are overshadowed by the top line for press.
Todd Marchant, the team's second line center, is on pace for a solid 70 point year, while young gun, Nicklas Backstrom has contributed an amazing 10 goals in 18 games of secondary scoring. Pens Win....Unbeaten in EIGHT!!!
WOW...did anyone suspect the Pens to be UNBEATEN in EIGHT games?!?!?!
Pittsburgh won another shocker tonight beating the Sens 5-3.
The top line of Robert Lang, Tuomas Philman, and Enver Lisin are on FIRE. Philman scored his 12th goal of the season last night, and was assisted by HOF/STUD dman Garth Butcher. Butcher incidently was the victim of a CHEAP shot late in the third, and the PHL is currently reviewing the tape.
8 games in a row from a team that was picked b MANY to finish with a guaranteed lottery pick.

Stampede Hire a WHAT??
The Central Texas Stampede have fired bench boss, Kevin Miller and replaced him with...A GIRL! That's right, Tannis Gaylene is now the head coach of the Central Texas team. With the Stampede falling fast, Miller and Flyers GM, Jazz Matthews got into a shouting match at an airport lounge after another devastating loss. Matthews was heard to shout that a girl could do better. At that point the Texas A&M Womens Ice Hockey team was passing by and coach Tannis Gaylene said she would take the job. Both Miller and Matthews were stunned, but Matthews reacted first firing Miller and hiring Gaylene.
At this point we are not sure of the logistics of things, like dressing rooms, etc.....but we will follow this story closely.....for the Stampede, in a plane over Texas, Breydon Strait reporting.

Sub Par Play Leads to Trade Rumors
So, a sub par performance by the latest edition of the Philadelphia Flyers has lead to trade rumors swirling through the front office. It seems that the rumors not onny concern the big club, but the Central Texas Stampede are having problems as well. A coaching change in Texas is all but guaranteed. Speaking with Flyers GM Jazz Matthews, he denies that there are rumblings in the dressing room. However, this reporter can tell you that the teams recent effort to sign Mike Richards and subsequent shot at moving Joe Thornton has caused some strife. Add to that the FA signing of center David Hallstrom and things start to look a little tight in the middle. With team leader Derek Armstrong stuggling, his name has appeared as the most likely to move. With the rumors swirling, the only names that have not been mentioned are the aforementioned Joe Thornton and scoring leader Henrik Zetterberg. Bruins Rides SIX Game Streak!!!
Would the Real Bruins PLEASE stand Up!!!!
Dougie Mac here in Beantown….and the Bruins have OBVIOUSLY turned things around under interim head coach/General Manager George MacIntyre. The pride of Eastern PEI (I gave him the East, I’m the Pride of the West) has the Bruins rolling right now, winners of six in a row!!!
“I have been VERY vocal about our talent level….simply put we can beat anyone in this league on ANY night….hell we POUNDED the Flyers twice this year!!! The problem is we also lost to the Rangers, and the WHALERS!!!! Mikey Sullivan and Ray are both solid coaches….but 3-7-1 is just DISGUSTING!!!! I figured how better to see the talent than behind the bench…..I told the boys….NOONE is safe!!!”
The Bruins dropped 11 spots in the latest power poll, are DUE for a move up the rankings. All of a sudden the Adams just got a little tighter…..well besides the OVER achieving Habs and the TERRIBLE Whalers!!!

Blues Win 2nd in A Row!
ST.LOUIS - A surprise 2nd win in a row for the Blues, following up the 4-0 win over the Canucks witha 6-2 win over the Capitals. Slowly the team is starting to gel but still has a long ways to go. They are now within 2 pts of a few teams from leaving the cellar of the league. The team also boasts the leagues 3rd best powerplay.

Rangers PR - The Honeymoon Is Over!
We all knew it was coming. The start of the Rangers' season was far too good to be true. With a 6-4 start and being ranked 2nd overall in last week's PowerPoll, the boys in blue were off to a fantastic start to the season. Many were congratulating GM Kullman on his team's early success, but he continually let others know that the bubble would have to burst sooner or later.
Honeymoons do always end, but it is unfortunate that this one had to end with such a bang. The once 6-4 Rangers are now in the midst of a 4-game losing streak which has seen their division leading record fall to second worst in the Patrick. Forunately, the play of goaltender Mattias Modig has still been strong, and rookie centre Brian Boyle has continued to play well.
The conspiracy theorists, however, can't help but notice a correlation between the Rangers downturn and the now infamous HSL2 glitch which saw all streaks and slumps erased. Once these all important streaks were lost, this once red-hot team became ordinary once again.
Perhaps the Rangers will be able to mount another winning streak. But it is much more likely that we will see a fast descent down the standings until the team is where many had picked them to end the season - at the bottom.

BLUES WIN!!!! BLUES WINS!!!
ST.LOUIS - Call it what you will? A glitch in the sim? Perhaps H1N1 infects programs now too. Sympathy from the simmer or even the program? A lucky day or the Blues finally wake up? Whatever reason it is, the Blues decided if there was one game they were going to play it was this game. The St.Louis Blues beat the one of the top teams in the PHL in the Vancouver Canucks 4-0. It was a collective effort all around. The Blues may not win another game for some time but they will again enjoy this win at home with the fans. As promised with the previous win, the losers will be receiving a congratulatory package from none other than Mr. John Tavares. Who is next in line?
On a side note, the Blues have made a minor deal with the Seals, sending Jack Johnson and Tomas Plekanec for Mark Popovic and Nigel Dawes. Both forwards have been healthy scratches all year. In the defensemen, the Blues lose a defensive defender but brought in another puck carrier to help move the puck out.

Hello everyone this is Popar Azzi of the Connecticut Post once again. We have a real treat for you today. I had the opportunity to corner the Hartford Whalers Gm, Mr. Paul Gagne, to ask him a few questions.

Well thanks for asking Popar. I am fine health wise, professionally, not so good.
Why whatever do you mean?
Why are you so smarmy, Popar? You know exactly what I mean! Having to pay the GM of Philly, Jazz, a sizable amount of cash due to these bums of ours not performing, really hurts. If they keep this up our attendance will faulter and that will cost me further.
What do you intend to do about this?
I have a few pokers in the flames. We will see what happens. It seems a lot of other managers don't like dealing with us.
Well that's not true now is it Mr. Gagne, did you not just stike a deal with the struggling Leafs?
It was a minor deal. All I did was fill a need of a fellow GM in a crisis as I would do, if I could, for any other manager that came crawling in. Some of the other GM's that I have tried dealing with don't seem to open to counter offering or they don't know how. Of course any deal that I initiate will be heavily loaded in our favor, well in my mind anyways. I will make some mistakes along the way and wholeheartedly understand this as a learning curve. I really just want to work on the future so that I have the team I want.
So what you are saying is that you are not happy with your team so far this year?
Popar, really, what have you been watching so far? WE ARE TERRIBLE!! The boys haven't lived up to their billing so far and I really want to get rid of the whole bunch. I mean there are a few untouchables but you understand my frustrations?

I mean I am happy with our win over the terrible Bruins but we have to step up more than that. I am sure things will change for the better in the future but only time will tell.

What is wrong in Minnesota? Repeated beatings at the hands of the PHL's worst has this team in a tail spin. Is it the players? I dont think so, we got some talent here. Could it be the coaching, hmmm, could be, changes are coming boy. Could it be our liberal drug testing policies? preposterous. We've got our feelers out and are looking to make some changes lets see how it goes. Quite honestly the North Stars have't been the same since sending big Al Iafrate off to the tigers. The night the lights went out in the PHL
The notorious HLS2 glitch. It tends to come quickly without warning and haunts HLS2 leagues every so often. So when it struck the PHL, GMs were scrambling, wondering if the season would have to be restarted? What about streaks and slumps? Well once the dust settled, everything seemed to be fine. But once the lights came back on in the arenas around the league, there was this result just sitting there..........

Why, the mighty Habs first loss of the season happened. No more perfect record. There were countless thank you emails left for us to read this evening, most from the rest of the Adams division, quite a few from the BOS GM alone.
But wait, at the other end of the spectrum, the winless Blues finally won a game

Perhaps the HLS2 Sim itself was unhappy with both of these teams, and took it upon itself to bring some normalcy back to the league.

To honor the momentous occasion, the Blues are sending an autographed Rod Langway jersey to GM Dan Kent. Who knows when the next win will be, but for now we will celebrate the one win (yes we lost the next 2 games by a combined scored of 12-3). WAHOO!!!! The next lucky "LOSER" may get a John Tavares jersey, signed and given in person. Who be the lucky team next? The Blackhawks? The Northstars? Two teams that barely came away with a tie? Patience, Patience, Patience
Just like last season, both the Leafs and Majors stumbled out of the gate, bringing back memories of last seasons brutal start. Unlike last season though, this Leaf team has no excuses. There will be no big trades, landing big named dmen. No adding top notch , cheap retiring veteran help. No bail outs from their ownership group. Its sink or swim with what you got. So with that in mind, their gm did what many other gms have a tough time doing when things arent going your way.............
DONT CHANGE ANYTHING!!.
What? You mean, in the face of a losing start to the season, we are advising other teams to not make changes? Yup. No trades. No line changes. NOTHING!.
So how has it worked so far? Well both farm and pro teams have had mirror opposite 5 game results. A poor first 5 followed by a great second 5. How did they manage to do that? By leaving their lines as is. Sure, there was a goalie change in there. Infact, their gm instructed the simmer to use HLS2 sim lines for the farm. And what it did do was establish something most gms overlook in this sim.
Chemistry.
Thats the unmeasurable word that gives teams huge boosts or huge slumps without any real explanation on paper to back it up. Trust me it works, but yet its the number 1 hardest thing for a gm to do, even a long time gm will tell you how hard it is to resist tinkering with lines, or making an early trade when panic starts to set in.
This reporter has seen it all over the years with this crazy sim, and the one thing ive learnt is sometimes its best to leave things as is. At least until you lose to the Blues...then you HAVE to make a change ;).

What? You mean, in the face of a losing start to the season, we are advising other teams to not make changes? Yup. No trades. No line changes. NOTHING!.
So how has it worked so far? Well both farm and pro teams have had mirror opposite 5 game results. A poor first 5 followed by a great second 5. How did they manage to do that? By leaving their lines as is. Sure, there was a goalie change in there. Infact, their gm instructed the simmer to use HLS2 sim lines for the farm. And what it did do was establish something most gms overlook in this sim.
Chemistry.
Thats the unmeasurable word that gives teams huge boosts or huge slumps without any real explanation on paper to back it up. Trust me it works, but yet its the number 1 hardest thing for a gm to do, even a long time gm will tell you how hard it is to resist tinkering with lines, or making an early trade when panic starts to set in.
This reporter has seen it all over the years with this crazy sim, and the one thing ive learnt is sometimes its best to leave things as is. At least until you lose to the Blues...then you HAVE to make a change ;).

ST.LOUIS - 1/8th of the season has gone by and the Blues are sitting in the cellar of the league as expected. Still without a win, the Blues did manage to pull out their 2nd tie in a row against a division rival, the Chicago Blackhawks. Khabibulin faced a 50+ shots in the tie, upping his league leading total to 376 in 10 games, way ahead of Tyler Plante of the Red Wings by 40 shots (330 shots in 9 games). The Blues have also managed to score a paltry 16 goals only led by John Tavares with 3.
The bright side for now is the Blues have tied the last 2 games scoring almost half their season goals in those 2 ties. They are also 1 pt within getting out of the basement as the Ducks have 4 pts on the season although having a game in hand.

Flyers GM Laughs Out Loud.....
Sitting at an airport kiosk, spending change on the net and having the occasional beverage...I felt the need to comment on a couple of posts and getting nto a bit of a war of the words, not my usual M.O. So I apologize to the Borins GM and promise to double check my research with a pen, paper and clear mind, when I get to my final destination next week and have some time to make sure that I am accurate. That being said, I am not far off in my comments, but admit I should have done more accurate research before making them....I also send out CONGRATS to the Borins on defeating the Flyers, not once, but TWICE!!.....on their way to a stellar 3 and 5 start. Colts PR
The Colts continued their hot streak tonight with a win and a tie. The topline was front and center in both games tonight. In the first games, the colts tied the Blades 3-3 in a tough game. The newly formed topline scored 2 of the 3 goals and combined for 5 pts. Tomas Kubes was able to stop 25 of 28 shots.
In the second games, the Colts were able to squeak out a 4-3 win with a OT goal scored by Timofei Shishkanov. Again the topline came scoring 3 of the 4 goals and combining for 7 pts. With the win the Colts now have a 5 game undefeated streak and are 2-0-2 with Tomas Kubes in goal.

Whalers Win Huge
Well this is Popar Azzi, of the Connecticut Post. Just thought I would give a little review of last nights win over the Bruins.
It was nice to see Stanislov Chistov pot two goals this game but the big story I think is that Miller had to face 34 shots and only allowed 1 past him and into the mesh. The shots were plentiful but the Bruins really only had about a dozen half real decent chances.
In the bowls of the Hartford Civic Centre after the tremendous win of the Hartford Whalers over the abismal Bruins, I was able to corner coach Pat Quinn for a quick Q&A.
Good evening coach, what a great win you had there.
"Thanks Popar. Yeah the boys got it done"
Well coach you seem rather matter of fact about this huge divisional win
"I don't believe it to be as huge as you say. We knew we could win, it was just a matter of excecution."
The boys definately looked pumped up and ready to go. What do you think of the wager between your GM, Paul Gagne, and the Gm of the Bruins?
"Well to tell you the truth, I think it was idiotic. The boys and I are just starting to get to know each other right now and that guy in the ivory tower seems to want to put more pressure on us. He also has a tendency to get involved in changing lines, which I always thought was my job!"
I did notice that you seemed a bit tougher for this game. So you are saying that this was your GM'S plan and not yours?
"Yes."
Well that is a short response. Care to expand?
"No not really. Except to say that we will have different lines for the next couple of games."
Why would you mess with what seems to be working?
"We got lucky with those lines. As far as toughness goes, we are a bunch of wimps and Mr. Gagne should look to change that. Instead of wasting funds on bets, maybe we should bring in some players. For now we should be concentrating on goal scoring and stopping shots against, not trying to pump out our chests. That is what the Bruins do."
So you are saying that the Whalers are more talented than the Bruins but not as tough?
"Yes."
Well I wish you well, Mr. Quinn and I hope you know what's best.
"As long as I am left alone to do my job, I believe it will be a great year. The more I am interferred with the less I can take the blame when things don't work out."

Blues Clues
ST.LOUIS - The Blues have no idea how to score. In the past 5-6 games the Blues have managed to only score 1 goal. These Blues probably wouldn't do that much better in the PMHL.
There will be trades made sometime in the near future, but for now the Blues will do whatever they can to stop the bleeding (if that is possible). The Blues did go out and pilfer 2 free agents in Jason Jaspers and Dave Bolland. Both are two way players that can help plug some holes (there are too many to stop completely). Whoever has the Blues first round draft pick is smiling right now.

Rangers PR - How are the Rangers .500?
It's the question that has the entire PHL confused. How are the Rangers, a team that was predicted by many to place dead last in the PHL this season, starting the PHL9 campaign off at 4-4 and having outscored their opponents 27 to 20? It baffles the mind, even of Rangers fans and supporters.
Perhaps, though, the team needs look no further than at their goaltender, Mattias Modig. Last year's Express keeper has turned into this year's Rangers surprise, as Modig (or "Moe" as he is known to his new teammates) has a paltry 2.50 GAA and a save percentage above .910.
Through 8 games, all of which Modig has started, the Rangers have also shown confidence in their goaltender. Enough confidence that they are able to play a more offensive system, thereby producing 27 goals (or 3.375 per game).
"We're playing great right now," said Rangers captain David Backes. "The guys feel like we can be a real underdog team this year, you know. I mean, no one expects us to win anything, so every time we go out there and play well, we feel like we've proven them all wrong."
It is still early in the season, but it is great to see this group of young players go out every night and fight for a win. It may not continue like this all season, but we can hope.

Blackhawks PR
The blackhawks came out tonight and picked up a nice win. Winning 5-1 with many players getting points. Its nice to see the chemistry connecting in all the lines and Varlamov playing very well in net. As long as Varlamov keeps playing til he fullest we should continue to see the Hawks on the winning end of games. After tonights games though the Blackhawks took a huge hit to there defence. Losing James Wisniekski to suspension for 2 games. This could break our defensive line we have going so far this season. Lets hope for the 2 games that he is out that the rest of the d-men step in and fill in the hole. Last years trade deadline pick up jonathon cheechoo has scored in every game so far this season. All the lines seem to be clicking lets hope that they continue to do this every night.

Killer Whalers Lie in Wait
So I see the pitiful Bruins GM running his mouth after a lucky victory over the slumping Flyers. My boys have been taking it easy waiting to play the "B" 's. "Mr." MacIntyre has a tendency to poke a bee hive with a little stick and then get all confused when he gets stung. The Whalers didn't make a wager with the Bruins on a whim. We will be up to snuff for the game tonight and intend to put a royal ass-whooping on this chump. The Whalers are coming out a little flat this season but will turn it all around tonight. My so called "Mentor" thinks he has lead me the right way but has slammed every door I have tried to go through and has a pitiful record all on his own (no wonder we are sucking). Even with all my complaints nothing is going to prevent my Whalers from TROUNCING those LOUSY BRUINS.

Well the Bruins once again played Jeckyl and Hyde, and decided to teach Chazz “I got a STACKED team handed to me, and I am SLOWLY destroying it” Matthews ANOTHER lesson. The Bruins rolled the Flyers for the second time in as many meetings, this time 6-2.
Staal, Martin, and Doan continue to play well. Bruins have had issues defensively, and newly acquired FA Derrick Morris has found himself in coach Ray Bourque's dog house for lack luster defensive zone coverage….”He’s got to be better….we paid big dollars for Derrick, and he needs to be our Best dman!!!!”
The 3-3-1 record is deceiving, as the Bruins have played to the level of weaker opponents like the Oilers and Americans, then wiped the floor with the Flyers….
Tonight the Bruins face division rivals, and PHL doormat the Hartford Whalers. GM Paul GAG-ne ran his mouth early, and has been fairly quiet with his team struggling MIGHTLY early in PHL9. The second game on the sched is the Winnipeg Jets, who have been playing FAR better than experts predicted at 4-2.

Not impressed with the recent play of the colts, coach Franschetti knew it was time for a change. The changes started in goal as underachieving 9/9 goalie Chris Beckford Tseu was not pulling his weight with a bloated 4.65 GAA and a rough .849 save %. " I think the youngster just needs some more time to reach his comfort zone and become the back stop we believe he can be" stated coach Franschetti. Luckily, the colts have Tomas Kubes, another quality starter. With Kubes in nets the Colts a 1-0-1 which included a solid 4-2 win over the Wolverines tonight. "Kubes has only played 2 games so far but he looks like he might take the ball and run with it. He played a solid game tonight against the Wolverines. Last year most would say a win against them would be a given but GM Colston has added some quality talent to the farm squad and they are not an easy win like in the past."
The other big change made was to swap both winger on the 1st and 2nd line. The top line was scoring but they were not defensively cohesive at all with -5 plus/minus so far this season. Against the wolverines tonight the new top line was dominant scoring 3 of the teams 4 goals and totalling 7 pts.
Unfortunately, not all the news was good tonight for the colts as young center Evan McGrath was savagely taken out during a scrum between the combatants. Sabres PR
Another season and another typical Sabres start...up and down play. Unlike in the past, Sabres management is unsure if the problem is a defensive breakdown or lackluster play by starting goalie, Justin Peters. In a doubleheader tonight the Sabres lost 4-3 to the Scouts and tied the Devils 6-6.
In the first game, the sabres dominated the Scouts on the offensive end but we're unable put away the opposition. The Scouts on the other hand took advantage of there opportunities scoring the last 3 goals of the game. Coach Bester was unimpressed with his teams play after having an early 3-1 lead. "I can not understand how we can have a team on the ropes and ready to fall only to get cracked with a stiff shot of reality. I think our players made the huge mistake of underestimating the Scouts. This isnt the team from last season that had a 23 winless streak."
In game 2, the Sabres had their eye on the prize too early and they paid the price as former Sabre Steve Regier buried the tying goal at 19:04 of the 3rd period. At one point early in the 2nd period the Sabres were down 4-2 and began to show some guts by scoring 3 straight goals to take a 5-4 lead. But on this night for the 2nd time in a row a Sabres win was not in the cards.
Currently the Sabres sit in 3rd place in the Adams Division behind the red hot Canadiens and the equally hot Nords. The Sabres have no problem scoring, as they average almost 4 goals a game but they can't seem to keep the puck out of the net giving up a whooping 23 goals in 6 games. Insider sources say that Kipper will get the start next game.

Blackhawks Press Release
The oil kings just cant manage to get there offense clicking. We need to score more than 2 goals GM Brent said or else Linden Rowat needs to keep the puck out of his damn net. Rowats days here in the windy city could be limited if he doesnt start playing up to my standards. GM Brent might be moving some farm players also if they dont start winning and or scoring some goals. Get your asses off the bench and make some production for this team or you will all be gone is what i heard GM Brent yelling in the dressing room. We will haev to wait and see for the next game to see if the team responds to his criticism or will he have to start calling other GM's.

Bruins powerless poll
Jets picked to finish second last overall???! Bears should not be allowed to "imbibe and then scribe"! This poll obviously has no merit at all. I predict another playoff appearance for the Jets again. And there will be far fewer spots between the Bruins and Jets final standing positions than that bumbling bruin predicts.

With just two games into the regular season, teams are scrambling to make those last minute roster adjustments that were the priority of the pre-season after acquiring players through free-agency, drafting and trading in the off-season. The management, players, and coaching staff understand how important it is to finish off any roster adjustments, send players between the farm league and set up lines that produce. Two points earned at the beginning of a season may lead to the final push for a team on a playoff berth and that is exactly what the Los Angeles Kings, among many others, have managed to do. The Ann Arbor Wolverines nearly lost tonights game as they came into Gambler country. The Wolverines spotted the Gamblers a 3-0 lead after the first period came to an end.
The Gamblers scored three times in a 11:22 span of the first period, and the Wolverines bench was silent. Mike Fisher became the hero for the Wolverines when he deflected a shot by Rob Globke that beat Kevin Nastiuk in overtime to give the upstart Wolverines a 6-5 victory over the Gamblers.
“That was a wild one,” Wolverines coach Daryl Sittler said. “There was wide open hockey out there, way too loose for my liking. If we had walked out of here with nothing, it would have been pretty hard to swallow.”
Ann Arbor rallied to send the game to overtime as rookie Justin Jokien scored on a clean breakaway at 17:49 of the 3RD period. Fisher's goal at 3:41 of overtime had to be reviewed after Nastiuk complained that Fisher kicked the puck into the net. A video review confirmed that the puck crossed the goal line from Fishers stick and not his skate.
“With how things went for us last season, it was an important two points,” Sittler said.
“We showed a lot of character and persistence the way we fought back from a 3-0 deficit, but there were a lot of Gamblers who didn’t get contested the way they needed to be from our team,” Sittler said. “To be a good team, we’ve got to be a lot tighter.”

Tigers Start Season Well
The Tigers have started the season with a 2-1-0 record, scoring a leagues best 17 goals in that span. The first game of the season saw the team beat the Islanders by a score of 9-4. The second game was a bit of a setback against a formidable opponent in the Devils as they lost 5-4. "What a weird game that was to be involved in. The first period was crazy it seemed like any shot taken by either team was going into the net, after that both goaltenders shut the door and we were just unable to beat Brodeur."
The last game saw the Tigers beat the Bluejackets 4-2. Jeff Cowan leads the team with 1 goal and 6 assists for 7 points and goaltender Jhase Sniderman has started all three games. "Obviously we want to get Nabokov into some games soon, but he is not well enough to play yet."

The oil kings tonight came out firing right from the start. Winning the game 5-3. Rowat had enough offence that he knew he could win this game for the team. A few of the players have started the season off great. The chemistry with all the lines seems to be clicking and can only get better.

I think it will be a real dog-fight for the top 3 spots and although PHL 8 finalists, the Habs are still strong, I think the Sabres had a better off-season.
PATRICK Division
Flyers, Islanders, Devils, Rangers and Penguins
I stick by my guns as I wrote in the Patrick division preview. The Flyers are good but not great, while the Rangers are vastly improved and will make the play-offs.
EASTERN Division
Tigers, Capitals, Senators, Americans and Barons
I think the Tigers are perhaps the MOST improved franchise in the PHL, and therefore I give them the nod over the Caps in the regular season. Watch out for the Sens though, as I think management will get an itchy finger around the trade deadline.
CAMPBELL Conference
NORRIS Division
Maple Leafs, Red Wings, Blue Jackets, Blackhawks and Blues
Too bad someone will have to be on the outside looking in come play-off time. This is by far the most “competitive” division, based mostly on the personas of the five owners. Picking the order, after the Leafs is really a crap-shoot.

May be one of the most interesting divisions in the league boasting one of the best teams, one of the worse teams and another team that could be on the verge of becoming the best or worst pending how the ship is steered and even the captain himself doesn't know where he is steering. So let's preview this crazy division shall we. Teams are ordered by I think the teams might finish.
1 - LEAFS
This is a team that needs no introduction. The defending PHL Cup Champions. No matter how you look at it, whether they are rebuilding or not, you can never take the Leafs too lightly. They may start slow but by mid season you can guarantee this team will be clicking on all cylinders and if not, their GM is more than capable of fixing the problems.

Perhaps this is the beginning of a rebuilding year again? The Jackets and Blues will battle for the last place, most likely the Jackets losing out on that battle.

I would have been on here sooner but while watching one of these debockles I went down to the Riverfront Plaza and threw my "crack"berry in the Connecticut River. I here all this jawing about making bets on games or whatever, so I have a few.
First off to the Bruins. I propose that we put our first round draft picks in PHL9 up for our season records against each other. Come on big boy step up. I know we are suppose to do these dealings in the background but I am fine with these being out front and not ducking and hiding. COME ON HERO ANSWER THE CHALLENGE!!!!

The Americans have sat on their existing team from last season making only two minor trades this off season.
They have depth throughout their line-up with a number of players that could be on many teams in the league, although as 3rd or 4th liners. The first line could be quite effective, but after that the production will probably drop off.

Dougie Mac here in Boston. Well after the 9-3 DRUBBIN’ at the hands of the mediocre LA Kings, GM George MacIntyre wasted NO time in canning Mike Sullivan…..Sullivan is the last of the old regime, and he and MacIntyre were at odds during last years’ playoffs.
Rumor has it that the two had to be separated after the UPSET six game loss to the Habs last year. MacIntyre could be seen slamming his fist in disgust as the Bruins blew an early two goal lead to lose 9-3 to the Kings. The icing on the cake was the 5-4 loss to the LOWLY Brooklyn Americans. Sullivan did not return to the bench for the 3rd period, as apparently MacIntyre canned his ass during the intermission.
MacIntyre held an impromptu press conference post game, “The Boston Bruins would like to thank Mr. Sullivan for his years of service. Simply put, this was not working out. We have VERY high expectations for this team. 9-3 games are not part of our strategy, and we will move forward as an organization. In the meantime, we are HAPPY to promote Mr. NORRIS himself, Raymond Bourque to the position of Interim Head Coach.”
WOW….MacIntyre the ever volatile owner of the Bruins doesn’t waste any time…..that may be the quickest firing in league history….three games in. I know he knows what he is doin’ ole’ GMAC is a fellow islander….and we all KNOW what were doin’….
On another note….the Hartford Whalers and their loud mouth GM suffered TWO more losses today…..and are now winless in three….hey GAG-ne….where ya hidin’??? LOTTERY!!!!!

Blackhawks Press release
The blackhawks began season not so well. Starting off with a loss after then way they played during the pre-season. but dont expect this team to continue to lose because they are built to contend finally. The oil kings came out firing in there first game winning it 4-2. Rowat looking sharp in the opener. But they went on to lose the next game 2-1 but rowat yet again looked good. GM Brent is expecting the blackhawks to come out firing in tonights game. Varlamov looked very shaky in his first ever phl game and we hope that he rebounds or might see himself back in the farm this season.

re groups
I know the vancouver crew used to do this when we had our live draft. I think its how Mike Kandler used to make the huge draft day trades :) (shout out to the other Kandler!!!) It helps when you only live 20 mins from each other. You Edmonton boys are the largest/closest group we have atm with the vancouver crew a close 2nd.
With Wifi and netbooks, holding a trade deadline day or draft day at a sports bar or coffee shop would be way easier than in the past. Heck, the way things are going, we will all be sending in lines via our crackberries and IPhones, and i will be twittering the results of the draft.
Im all for anything like this, its all up to you guys though.

Early Thought for the Trade Deadline
I used to be in a HLS2 League that was all local guys. On Draft and Deadline day, we would get together at a pub or house...it added a great extra bit of fun.....With so many close to Edmonton, we should plan on doing somethng similiar. I would be glad to host in Stony Plain.....or we can do Edmonton......when you get together like this, trading is fantastic because you really have time to wheel, deal and make splash deals....THOUGHTS?

Bruins FLY Past the Flyers!!!!
Boston – Great title eh??? Your boy, Dougie Mac here in Boston. Got an email on this fancy blue berry thing that tells me my HOMETOWN of Summerside PEI is gonna name a rink after me, ‘bout time really, I mean I did draft RICK FRIGGIN’ NASH!!!
Well apparently I am supposed to apologize to the Montreal Canadiens for forgetting that they BLEW a chance at the Cup??? NOT gonna happen….Habs suck….PERIOD!!! Well at least they don’t suck as bad as the Whale…..GREAT first game GAG-ne…
Bruins looked good, 6-2 against the team I ranked number 1….one game at a time is what the Bruins must be thinking….”proof is in the puddin’” the Bruins can beat anyone on any night…..Staalsy looked great with the C, and the Bruins played super rookie Greg Nemisz on the 2nd line….he was one of their best forwards too….18th pick??? WOW how do these other 17 JABRONI’s have JOBS???? Better yet, how do I not have a REAL JOB!?!?!?

Wales Conference - Patrick Division Preview
Flyers
Key Additions -
Mathieu Dandenault (D), Jose Theodore (G), David Hallstrom (C)
Key Losses –
Dustin Butler (G), Brad Isbister (LW), Marian Hossa (RW)
The Flyers dispatched the Penguins in 4 straight in Round 1, they then were shell-shocked by the upset-minded Islanders in Round 2. They have looked solid so far in the pre-season, and all the experts expect them to win the Patrick again, but maybe not by the same dominating margin. The loss of Butler in goal is the key, in spite of their still amazing blueline. Look for the Flyers to be goalie shopping come the trade deadline. They’ll score goals, but I think they will struggle to score the same 449 they did last year. Armstrong, Thornton Zetterberg and Van Riemsdyk give the Flyers a ton of offence up front and Brian Lee is the league’s best d-man bar none.
Islanders

Although the Canadiens stole Cinderella’s glass slipper in Round 4 of the play-offs, dispatching the Islanders after they took out the Devils, Flyers and Capitals, the Islanders would seem to still be ready to play bridesmaid to the division-dominating Flyers in he regular season once again. The loss of Pietila at C will be tough to fill, but the Islanders management relied on the affiliate Crushers for most of their support this upcoming season. Moller, Gagner, Hoeffel and Disalvatore should all step in and fill key roles on what should be three more balanced lines. The key to the Islanders will once again be trade-deadline pick-up Sebastien Centomo in goal. He should he could single-handedly take games away from the opposition and he’ll need to keep doing that.
Devils
Key Additions –
Vyacheslav Kozlov (C), Mikhail Yunkov (LW), Michael Hengen (D)
Key Losses –
Gennady Churilov (C), Sebastien Dube (G), Wes O’Neill (D)
After losing out to the Islanders for the rights to home ice in the 7th game of their opening round match-up, most pundits still picked the Devils to roll past the Isles and be the only legitimate challenge for the Flyers. However, even with play-off vet Martin Brodeur between the pipes, the Devils got out-schooled in goal by Centomo and the rest was history. After a disappointing pre-season, you can bet management is anxious for the season to begin to right some wrongs from last year. Questions still abound though over where the offence is going to come from. Satan, Regier and Boll must continue to produce at the same level or higher. Plus the Devils need to find offence elsewhere. It will be interesting to see who steps up from the defensive corps to fill the offence that O’Neill provided. Mangement seems high on Hengen, but vetern Roman Hamrlik has the more proven track record. Watch out if the devils get off to a really slow start as you may see Brodeur on the block, with Fleury waiting in the wings.
Rangers

Billy Ryan (C), Alex Radulov (LW), Ty Wishart (D)
For missing the play-offs in PHL 8, the Rangers were the beneficiaries of highly-touted draft pick, Brian Boyle. He is being expected to step in and provide instant offence up front for the Blue & Red. The acquisition of Marian Hossa should also help balance a good group of forwards up front. The young defensive corps led by Godfrey, Weircioch and Magnan should also be improved and that’s why many are picking the Rangers to put last year’s dismal season behind them and be a lock for a play-off spot in the Patrick. Mattias Modig will continue to shoulder the burden of the load in goal, but more than capable backup Johann Ramo should step in and see some action as well. The Blueshirts have been only mediocre in the pre-season so far, but a 25 point jump in the standings is not out of the question in the upcoming PHL 9.
Penguins Key Additions –

Key Losses –
David Aebischer (G), Alex Svitov (C), Glen Murray (RW)
A lack of continuity in the front office has the left the Penguins without a long-term plan. There’s a lot of young talent there spread out in all positions, but the Pens will end up on the outside looking in this year for the play-off unless they make some radical changes, starting in the front office. The talent has risen to the top, so to speak, in the pre-season, but in the long run, they just can’t match up with the rest of the very strong Patrick Division. Some shining lights this season should be the play of blueliner Mike Lundin and young sniper Tom Sestito, who tallied 47 times in the PMHL last season. Lundin is ready for a bigger role in the offence, while Sestito will try to make up for the loss of veteran Glenn Murray, who scored 36 goals for the parent club. Also expected to play a key role will be PHL 8 draft choice Chad Danny. Although not much of an offensive presence, he is rumoured to be very sound in his own end.
Sabres: Adams Division Predictions
Well it's that time of the year again...say it with me...PHL Hockey!!! And with the start of every season comes hopes and promises. Some are able to back up their big words while others seem to fall flatter then Keira Knightley's chest (i still wouldn't turn her down though). With further adieu here is the Adams Division predictions.
1st place: Buffalo Sabres - 100 pts
I'm not the type to talk smack about the sabres. I prefer to let them prove everything on the ice. After the phl 6 season, GM MacDougall traded in his fringe cup contending roster for and expansion roster full of hacks. After 2 seasons cellar dweller, the Sabres have built up a roster that should give the their 2nd division crown under GM MacDougall. The contender building started mid last season with the additions of Getzlaf, Blake, Jovanovski, and Gleason. The building continued during the offseason with Macdonald, Hemsky, and Ryznar. When dust settled the Sabres had built 3 competitve lines and assembled the best bench group of GM MacDougall's tenure.
The team has upgraded the wings with 5 good shooters (Hemsky, Gartner on the right side and McDonald, Daugs, and Ryznar on te left side). Even with all the shooters, this season will hinge on the play of Mikeal Samuelsson and Mike Zigomanis and their ability to feed their wingers the puck. The hope this year is to atb Samuelsson into a solid center and be an unstoppable 1-2 punch with Ryan Getzalf.
The defense is lead by Rob Blake, Ed Jovanovski, and Tim Gleason. The rest of the defensive core brings different assets to the table and the ability to atb into future top notch defensemen. In nets the Sabres hav highly touted former #1 pick overall, Justin Peters. Although for some reason some numb skull in a previous blog though the sabres would go with Kipper..c'mon man wake up and smell the Folger in your cup GM Gagne.
2nd place: Boston Bruins - 97 pts
When the "Bacardi Binger" took over the Bruins, one of two things happened: 1) GM McIntyre made some shrewd moves to restock the once bare cupboard of the Bruins and 2) The amount of Bacardi Breezer consumed by Tigers and Leafs front offices have increased. We hear their favorites are the Bacardi Limon and Grand Melon.
In all seriousness, the Bruins made some shrewd trades that enabled them to stock up the farm team and not take away from their Pro scoring ability. The best example of these moves was the deal of Superstud Jeff Taffe to the Tigers. The Bruins dealt their monster rw and got a package deal which included a young promising lw in Matt Martin. The season is about to start and Mr.Martin is a great option to fill in the goals lost with Taffe being dealt. This team is really solid with its top 6 forwards and the subtraction of Taffe should not be missed.
The Bruins d-core is weak but has a ton of promise. Morris, Lynch, and Seabrook will make a solid top three and if 1 or 2 of the others can step up this weakness could be patch worked for the season. If the defense does break down then the opposition still have to deal with star goalie Matthew Spezza.
3rd place - Montreal Canadiens - 92 pts
The PHL P-I-M-P's team has taken a hit like when one of his women step out of line. They still have alot of positives to work with like a tough grizzled group on the backend and some firepower up front with Eaves, Crosby, and Sutter. Its not a case of this team sucking or making bad moves since last year more then the fact rerates hurt them and a couple of teams loading up. The Habs are looking to upgrade the offense by jingling perrenial underachievers Dan Ellis. It looks like Dan Brown's solid performance has given him the inside track for the starting role.
Looks like the Habs/Sabres rivalry is back at its finest in a really tough division.
4th - Quebec Nordiques - 90 pts
Similiar to the Habs it is not that this team got worse but that other teams have gotten better. The Nords suprisingly tore up the league last year without a gm for most of the year. Not much is known abou the new Nords GM, Sunny Rajwan. Mulitiple rumors are floating around such has: Mike Kandler reincarnated, mafia front for money laundering, and my personal favorite the former strip who worked hard and saved every dirty dollar he earned to eventually live his dream as a PHL owner.
Last year this team was lead by a full team effort. The center postion is strong with Mitchell/Todd and the winger group is not top notch but they all do different things right and work as a whole.
The defense is the bread and butter of this team and it will be the head of the Nords beast this year. Lead by "Double C " Carlos Colaiacovo, Braydon Coburn, Filip Kuba, and defensive monster Shawn Belle. Last year, Nords had a goal difference of +62 but look for that difference to be reduced with the Sabres improving since last year and not being the Nords punching bag.
5th - Hartford Whalers - 89 pts
The biggest change since last year is the Whalers have a gm who is active. Too bad the GM has blurred real life with his dream world. The Whalers are a good team but they are not Division winning material just yet. They have a SOLID top 4 d-core in Green, Lavin, Wennerlof, and Kurceba. If any team is lucky to get by that foursome then they have to deal with arguably the top goaltender in the PHL.
The forwards have some nice talent in Svatos, Chistov and others. But can this group of forwards match up against the top 6 of the Bruins or the deph of the Sabres.
On a sidenote: If the PHL was giving out xmas gifts to each GM its obvious that GM Gagne would get a set of reading glasses and a hearing aid. Why you ask because he has to be blind since he doesnt read properly...PHL FA is about 5 months away Paul but i figure your bids will be in my inbox in about 3 months ;). The hearing aid is so he can hear his mentor and other gms who offer advice to help Paul grow as a GM. Since its obvious the only person GM Gagne hears is inexperienced rookie inside his head (Sorry Paul had to take a shot at ya...Kipper put me up to it).

The team has upgraded the wings with 5 good shooters (Hemsky, Gartner on the right side and McDonald, Daugs, and Ryznar on te left side). Even with all the shooters, this season will hinge on the play of Mikeal Samuelsson and Mike Zigomanis and their ability to feed their wingers the puck. The hope this year is to atb Samuelsson into a solid center and be an unstoppable 1-2 punch with Ryan Getzalf.
The defense is lead by Rob Blake, Ed Jovanovski, and Tim Gleason. The rest of the defensive core brings different assets to the table and the ability to atb into future top notch defensemen. In nets the Sabres hav highly touted former #1 pick overall, Justin Peters. Although for some reason some numb skull in a previous blog though the sabres would go with Kipper..c'mon man wake up and smell the Folger in your cup GM Gagne.
2nd place: Boston Bruins - 97 pts
When the "Bacardi Binger" took over the Bruins, one of two things happened: 1) GM McIntyre made some shrewd moves to restock the once bare cupboard of the Bruins and 2) The amount of Bacardi Breezer consumed by Tigers and Leafs front offices have increased. We hear their favorites are the Bacardi Limon and Grand Melon.
In all seriousness, the Bruins made some shrewd trades that enabled them to stock up the farm team and not take away from their Pro scoring ability. The best example of these moves was the deal of Superstud Jeff Taffe to the Tigers. The Bruins dealt their monster rw and got a package deal which included a young promising lw in Matt Martin. The season is about to start and Mr.Martin is a great option to fill in the goals lost with Taffe being dealt. This team is really solid with its top 6 forwards and the subtraction of Taffe should not be missed.
The Bruins d-core is weak but has a ton of promise. Morris, Lynch, and Seabrook will make a solid top three and if 1 or 2 of the others can step up this weakness could be patch worked for the season. If the defense does break down then the opposition still have to deal with star goalie Matthew Spezza.
3rd place - Montreal Canadiens - 92 pts
The PHL P-I-M-P's team has taken a hit like when one of his women step out of line. They still have alot of positives to work with like a tough grizzled group on the backend and some firepower up front with Eaves, Crosby, and Sutter. Its not a case of this team sucking or making bad moves since last year more then the fact rerates hurt them and a couple of teams loading up. The Habs are looking to upgrade the offense by jingling perrenial underachievers Dan Ellis. It looks like Dan Brown's solid performance has given him the inside track for the starting role.
Looks like the Habs/Sabres rivalry is back at its finest in a really tough division.
4th - Quebec Nordiques - 90 pts
Similiar to the Habs it is not that this team got worse but that other teams have gotten better. The Nords suprisingly tore up the league last year without a gm for most of the year. Not much is known abou the new Nords GM, Sunny Rajwan. Mulitiple rumors are floating around such has: Mike Kandler reincarnated, mafia front for money laundering, and my personal favorite the former strip who worked hard and saved every dirty dollar he earned to eventually live his dream as a PHL owner.
Last year this team was lead by a full team effort. The center postion is strong with Mitchell/Todd and the winger group is not top notch but they all do different things right and work as a whole.
The defense is the bread and butter of this team and it will be the head of the Nords beast this year. Lead by "Double C " Carlos Colaiacovo, Braydon Coburn, Filip Kuba, and defensive monster Shawn Belle. Last year, Nords had a goal difference of +62 but look for that difference to be reduced with the Sabres improving since last year and not being the Nords punching bag.
5th - Hartford Whalers - 89 pts
The biggest change since last year is the Whalers have a gm who is active. Too bad the GM has blurred real life with his dream world. The Whalers are a good team but they are not Division winning material just yet. They have a SOLID top 4 d-core in Green, Lavin, Wennerlof, and Kurceba. If any team is lucky to get by that foursome then they have to deal with arguably the top goaltender in the PHL.
The forwards have some nice talent in Svatos, Chistov and others. But can this group of forwards match up against the top 6 of the Bruins or the deph of the Sabres.
On a sidenote: If the PHL was giving out xmas gifts to each GM its obvious that GM Gagne would get a set of reading glasses and a hearing aid. Why you ask because he has to be blind since he doesnt read properly...PHL FA is about 5 months away Paul but i figure your bids will be in my inbox in about 3 months ;). The hearing aid is so he can hear his mentor and other gms who offer advice to help Paul grow as a GM. Since its obvious the only person GM Gagne hears is inexperienced rookie inside his head (Sorry Paul had to take a shot at ya...Kipper put me up to it).
PHL9 league predictions
The Whalers have put all the data into the massive commadore 64 mainframe computer and have come up with predictions. No heart felt feelings or common sense was used.

The final four teams are going to be, Devils, Whalers, Leafs and the Stars with the eventual cup being delivered to the Devils. I know, I know you are all shocked and amazed because you all thought that I would pick the Whalers but a sudden sense of reality came over me and this is the result.
