Spending cash this time around

Columbus, Oh cajn This may be a first for the Blue Jackets as GM Colston has pulled out his check book during this off season.

He invested 300K in Tomas Vokoun, a top notch netminder that will surely aid the Blue Jackets in the up coming season. With two 9/9 goalies and a 8/8 pine rider, the Jackets will expect many more wins next season.

The Jackets also sent 200K to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a PHL10 2ND RND pick. This could turn out to be a nice pick since the Leafs will not contend for the top team this year. With contraction, that pick should elevated from a 60th pick to a 40th one. Maybe GM Colston should try to trade this pick to the Hartford Whalers. I hear the telephone ringing now!

The FA market has seen the Jackets sign the following players so for.

Jesse Schultz L RW 1 6 4 5 6 9 8 6 7 6 7 65 76K
Dan Spang L D 1 9 9 7 8 9 9 9 7 9 7 84 400K
Mike Lundin L D 7 9 9 5 5 3 9 5 7 9 5 73 176K

Jarmo Jokila L C 9 8 6 6 6 1 6 6 9 8 8 73 should sign tonight for 90K

The Jackets have also sent offers to three other FA. GM Colston has spent just under 1.25 Million in cash to booster his teams. With three more offers out there, the Jackets could end up using every dime in the bank.

Cup A Joe
