Blackhawks Press Release

GM Brent has been on the phone a lot lately trying to get deals done that maybe will jump start that farm team of his that can't manage to play consistent hockey. The first deal GM Brent managed to pull off was with the division rival columbus blue jackets. GM Brent is hoping that the deal benefits his team and doesnt slow down the offence. the deal looked like this :

to blackhawks:
1st round pick cbj phl 10
8 Taylor Dakers 0 R G 5 9 8 6 8 5 8 5 8 - - 62 (wolverines to oil kings)
to blue jackets
77 Linden Rowat 1- L G 3 9 4 9 5 2 9 4 9 - - 54 ( oil kings to wolverines)
2nd rd pick Chi PHL10

i was very happy to do this deal because it didnt affect the goalie situation barely. dropping from a 9/9 goalie to a 9/8 goalie isnt a big drop but it might make a difference to the team. and the 1st round pick the hawks will move if the right deal does come along.

Then from this deal GM Brent needed another first round pick that he could trade to get a top defenceman in the league. He started talking to the senators who needed a farm lw and were very interested in one of the oil kings lws and he was out of the age group that GM Brent likes so he allowed the player to be dealt. that deal looked like the following:

To blackhawks:
1st round pick ott phl 10

to ottawa
10 Ryan Johnson 0 L LW 3 6 6 1 1 8 6 5 8 8 7 59 (oil kings to moose)
2 tcs phl 10

GM Brent liked this deal because he was acquiring that pick that he well needed to make his pro d that much stronger. Johnson who was having a great year on the farm but had been held pointless lately in a few games and is 33 years old. I thought it would be a good idea to finally deal him out of this town. The hawks had 10 tcs in phl 10 so it wasnt much of a thought that he could deal some tcs to make this deal happen. In the end the blackhawks definitely will win this deal after you see what the pick was traded for.

GM brent then went on to talk the whalers GM which they had a deal in mind for a couple weeks now it was waiting on gm brent to get that dam first which he finally did. he went on to deal it to the whalers in the following deal:

to blackhawks:
24 Mike Green 2+ L D 8 7 9 6 4 3 6 9 9 9 7 77

to whalers:
57 Luke SCHENN 1+ R D 3 6 7 7 8 9 7 9 6 6 3 71
1st rnd pick ott phl 10
2 tcs phl 9
2 tcs phl 10

this deal will help the blackhawks d a lot. he is the 2nd best dman on the roster and will be filling in where schenn was playing but hopefully will put up better numbers then schenn. Mike green is a player that brent has been trying to acquire for many seasons but he just never could quite afford nor get but now that he has. he is hoping that he plays like he did for whalers in the past seasons. if he does then he is definitely the best player in this deal.
